Supplier for AC Parts ( Blower Control Module)

My blower module popped on my 2006 GMC in 2017. I replaced it with a Four Seasons. I have always been happy with Four Seasons entire product line and this module was fine as well. The only drama, not Four Seasons related, is there are several styles of that module for my ex-2006 so I needed to...

    Protecting the Dashboard

This is my go to for vinyl / plastic interior components. I have used 303 products for many decades now, always happy with them. https://www.autozone.com/interior-detailing-and-car-care-products/protectant/p/303-automotive-interior-and-exterior-protectant-spray-24oz/626099_0_0

    Rock Auto positive experience

RA has always been solid for me. One return in the last 10 years or so (part was wrong for application), simple return process and fully funded.

    Garbage Disposal

Current house and previous house had Insinkerators. Never an issue, never leaked. I'd be happy to use them again if I needed a new one or we moved to a new house.

    What do you collect?

Nothing much anymore. We purged mightily on our retirement move five years ago. I am continuing to purge even five years later, I have dumped a lot of rare and exotic stuff new and used (Hemi, LS6, Ram Air IV, NOS Buick Stage 1 and 2 parts... stuff gathered over a 40+ year muscle car collection)...

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

Tacoma Out: Original Firestone Destination LE - P245/75R16 Tacoma In: Michelin Defender LTX M/S - P245/75R16 All my trucks end up with this Michelin tire, it is my favorite (dry, wet, snow, noise, ride, wear - all excellent).

    SAE Wrench Sizes

#8-32 machine hex nut takes an 11/32. Commonly found on old original GM starters on the "S" (solenoid) and "R" (resistor) posts. Unless you are working on cars like those in my signature it is rarely used, if at all, especially on new cars.

    Your favorite washer fluid

I am happy with just the regular blue -35C (-31F) stuff. When I lived in Alberta I would occasionally use the green -45C (-49F) product if it was on sale. One thing I have not had any luck with are products with additives i.e. bug / de-ice / anti-beading / etc. I just prefer the plain straight...

most disappointing car you ever had.

1986 Mazda 626 - it was an emergency purchase, my wife was taking night classes at a University 100 miles from where we were living at the time and we didn't want to mile out our brand new Z71 Silverado nor get clobbered on the fuel. The car was a; mostly well maintained (I did find one sketchy...

Your opinion on gas vs electric cooking when buying a house

I have not. I am certainly open to giving it a try if push ever came to shove and my gas stove got hauled away or the gas valve shut off. I have heard they are better at low temps for simmering etc. I'd need to ensure I had compatible cookware too. My wife designed this house reno (years ago...

Your opinion on gas vs electric cooking when buying a house

This is, unfortunately, a valid concern and worth considering on a new build. As some have already suggested, have the infrastructure available for both. For me it is not about being pro gas out of some sort of spite it is simply the cooking experience and what I can do is way better served by a...

What is your favorite rtv/gasket maker"?

Permatex is my go to for these products when required. I have on my shelf: Ultra Black Ultra Grey Gear Oil Gasket Maker - I use this in place of a gasket on diff covers in many applications and it has been excellent I also use their thread locker series in blue (medium), orange (mid) and red...

    Thicker/thinner fork oil then recommended

Glad it worked out for you. Similar experience (but opposite problem), I am a dirt rider and I used to have a 1992 WR250R, that bike was great at high speeds on fire roads or desert riding but was terrible in technical or rocky terrain (which was 95% of my riding). It was simply too harsh on...

Whare Do You Buy Your Car Parts?

I am a big fan of RA and this is a major reason why. The price in the cart is all in (duty / taxes etc.) no surprises, no customs forms and right to my door. I am also astonished at the speed of their delivery. I have only had one return in the 10+ years buying from them and that was seamless...

    Help with a Belt Decision

I use Gates, Continental or Dayco with confidence in all my vehicles. Re: knee deep - On modern vehicles, so equipped, I also change out tensioners and idler pulleys at the same time. 70k is about where I seem to change these things so that seems reasonable to me.

Would you buy a rebuilt flooded car?

A desirable 1964 to 1972 born with powertrain muscle car, yes, but the price would need to be outrageously low. Regular everyday 70's, 80's and 90's cars, no way. Modern cars with various computing modules, CAN bus architectures, air bags etc. not a chance, not for any price.
