    Portable starter battery maintainer build

Awesome project. Years ago , i got a 150 watt voltage booster, slow boat, for less than 2$ delivered. I installed it inside some ancient ventilated inline power brick and put a 50mm fan across its heatsinks, and 45 amp anderson powerpole connectors as input and outputs, also a voltmeter...

    Carquest Alternators Noisy?

How hot depends on the load.... how many amps they need to make to maintain the voltage chosen by the regulator How fast the fan(s) spin, and underhood airflow, are also infuencing variables. At low rpm an high load, expect them to get hot. 220f+ is too hot.

    Carquest Alternators Noisy?

I had a rebuilt alternator whine. ABout 20K miles later it quit charging. When I opened it up I saw the sliprings were not installed properly and the lower brush was touching both slip rings. I rehoned the sliprings spinning the pulley with a wire brush on an angle grinder on a router speed...

Recommended Oil for Small Fan Bushings?

I've had 12v and 24v computer fans run on a PWM speed controller make whining noises at reduced speeds. It was only 13 khz PWM though, 21K and above and only fido or mittens can hear it. One can also use some clear nail polish on the windings to stop the whining. I use voltage buckers...

How to determine when to replace battery that has always been charged / maintained?

Every engine start can be considered a load test, comparable against itself. https://www.amazon.com/Kaqiqi-5-Digits-Voltmeter-0-33-000V-Precision/dp/B096JXV161/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3FR3BDF9DCLU4&keywords=5+digit+voltmeter&qid=1659508143&sprefix=5+digit+voltmeter%2Caps%2C283&sr=8-7 This^ 5 digit ...

How to determine when to replace battery that has always been charged / maintained?

When voltage drops below 9, when starting overnight cold engine, start shopping. Perhaps 9.5v is better in temps above 60f.

New Odyssey battery high self discharge?

The 0.2 amps.might not be going into battery, but is powering vehicle loads. Perhaps body control senses charging voltages and does not put some loads to sleep. Lots of ammeters become increaasingly innacurate/imprecise at low amperage.

New Odyssey battery high self discharge?

When newer, and depleted below 50%, my group31 northstar was able to to accept 134 amps.of plug in adjustble voltage power supplies in parallel, For several minutes before hitting absorption voltge. I do have dual, individually regulated, 120 amp alternators, but have not combined their output...

    Cracked samsung a11 screen.

Thanks for that. I've done nothing regarding the cracked screen, at this point, 2+ weeks later. I take that first step to every process, procrastination, seriously.

New Odyssey battery high self discharge?

In general, when amps stop tapering, stop the charging. If the amps start rising at a constant voltage, overcharging has begun. Every new AGM I've gotten, and monitor closely on that initial charge, the amps do not taper to 0.005 at absoprtion, or less, until I cycle it deeply, then feed it...

New Odyssey battery high self discharge?

Every new agm battery i have charged, behaves that way on the initial charge. It will behave more in line with expectations after a discharge recharge cycle. Down below 65% and then apply no less than 25 amps initial current, and amps will taper to near zero at absorption voltage. And ocv will...

Van battery dies if not ran for 2 weeks

3 weeks of sitting is enough to drain many a battery, in many a vehicle, to a no start situation. Often, the overdischarged battery is jumpstarted, driven for an hour or less, and parked again, and the driver thinks the battery is fully charged. 2 weeks later or less, often much less, of...

    1995 Dodge 3500 1-ton campervan - recommended ATF?

I had bad torque clutch chatter until i had the universal bulk dexron fliud exchanged with atf+3, in my rebuilt a500/42re Now i use any liscenced atf+4. Not a shudder since . 110k plus miles since i purged the bulk dexron. Add an additional fluid cooler. Tell them to keep it out of...

    1995 Dodge 3500 van with 5.2 l (318) - spark plug recommendations sought

Depends on the actual continuous duty amp rating of the solenoid is, whether this 2nd battery method is acceptable. The green wire is the trigger, it gets 12v switched from something. Grounded through mounting screws into thin painted firewall. It might or might not combine battery banks when...

The vOltage regulator is internal to the ecm, starting 1988 for.the 5.2 and 89 for the 5.9. That battery held down with a belt? Those battery connections are horrible. The 'key dance' will flash codes via the check engine light.

    Used bearings/new races?

I once used the races which came preinstalled in rotors, with new bearings. Within 10k miles, noise, and the edges of all rollers were blued and worn. Only on one side. Slightly Different taper of race to bearing. Ill never repeat that mistake.
