    8 foot tall leaning fence.

Fence was built after Hurricane Irma knocked down the old one. So about 5.8 years old. 4x4 treated posts are hopefully set 4 feet deep. In sand. Think loose beach sand, easy to dig ankle deep with half an ankle twist/shuffle. 4x4 treated posts, 6 feet apart, mostly. Fence is leaning into...

Just purchased an EGO mower, any experience?

LIthium chargers do not 'float' the battery once fully charged. But they also dont truly fully charge the cells, on purpose. My Ridgid charger brings batteries to 20.5v. Makita and Dewalt 20.6, not sure about ryobi, yet. 21v would be a truly fully charged rested, open circuit voltage for 18v...

The most death defying motorcycle chase I've ever seen (Location Vietnam)- Video

I wonder how many riders heard the coming chase, and knew to just keep the same vector, vs those who had no idea until after they got passed. Any idea on the tops speeds achieved? That was nutty. I got to watch it again, on a real screen.

Bet you had friends like this when you were younger

1989. 1982 volvo station wagon. Burly surfboard racks on top Passed out humans strapped to roof racks. Dirt parking lot. Donuts, powerslides, reverse J turns. Lather rinse repeat. Laughing too loud to hear the screaming. The burnt clutch was so worth it. Good times.

Just purchased a Lithium Powered Lawnmower

The lights on batteries indicating battery state of charge are neither accurate, or precise. Even if it were accurate, 76% would still be 4 bars.range on.my Ridgid batteries is 20.5 warm off charger to 16v cutoff. Ive not yet put the DMM on makita batteries, but they seem to hold 4 bars for...

    10" Bench mount table saw

I spent a bunch of time feeding a few saws linked/mentioned here. I am not sure how much their designs have changed in the few to several years that have passed. The pics look the same, but...... A friends garage contained the cast iron top Ridgid, with the wheel kit, and it was by far my...

Another thread repair question. Male threads….

I buggered some male threads recently, spinning the flanged nut, with powertool , well after it was fully loosened. Lesson learned. Thankfully it was just cheap casters on a rolling mechanics stool that i was replacing the casters on anyway, with some urethane wheels. So much nicer. I was...

    Battery Powered Circular Saw

I've only used my neighbors milwaukee 6.25 inch 18vdc saw a few times, and was used to direct drive mMakita and worm drive mag77 skil at the time. Its been a while and no comparison to other battery saws. I went with Ridgid drill and driver with two 2.0ah batteries for 140$ in March thjs year...

First time using a battery powered lawnmower

Probably a few days out before I use mower again. I'm willing to reinstall the mulching diverter, to judge mulching performance on healthy thick part of lawn. How should i judge its mulching ability? Size of he leftover bits? Whether they are left in a line? Some other metric? I grew up late...

    A/C Blower Motor

Nope. No relay. The blowers glass fuse holder inside oem fuse panel was melted lrevious to my ownership. Previous owner added inline glass fuse holder. Which melted too. I added 2 inline atc fuse holders later on, separately, which melted too, then used an 8awg maxi fuse which solved that issue...

    A/C Blower Motor

While my upgraded circuit and speed switch never had another issue, I decided to try a sub 20$ 21khz 40 amp PWM motor speed controller controlling blower motor. Loved the infinite speeds between min and max, and never hooked the original circuit back up, and then regretted having going through...

First time using a battery powered lawnmower

I cant properly give you an opinion, the grass was too short and sparce, rainy season has not kicked in yet. It was my very first use of the mower, I have no basis for comparison. Been collecting the clippings since.

Melted Wires, Need Some Products To Re-insulate

Perhaps sacrifice some silicone jacketed 8 awg cable. Cut it lengthwise and peel it off stranding like gutting a snake, lube it and slide it down over damaged portion of harness. Ive doubled up spark plug wire insulation like this before.

First time using a battery powered lawnmower

Makita has at least 2 mowers. Ive been using the lesser Over last 3 weeks. I like how it ups the rpm when loaded with tall thick grass and lowers on the poor portions of lawn. Ive no recent experience with gas powerd pushmowers, but love he low noise factor. Battery life not a factor with dads...

"First Saw" advice to a younger man...

I love my mag 77. So much torque, but it would get a lot less use if i owned a battery powered saw. It's way overkill for most of what i use it for, currently, and is heavy. And takes up a lot of room on the shelf or toolbox. Was not too impressed with a neigh ors milwaukee 18v 6.25 circ, but no...

    USB power bank troubles

I was gifted a Mophie, whose owner said it didnt seem to be working correctly anymore, it was old, well used, owed him nothing. I found the usb micro charge port was just packed with lint and dust, and my clean male micro usb charge connector just barely seated and charged so slow, until deOxit...

Just purchased a Lithium Powered Lawnmower

I told my 86 year old dad , that his gardeners were ripping him off, in addition to annoying the snot out of everybody. It was as if generating maximum noise, and maximum dust, in as short a time as possible, was their chief goal. HE told me to Congratulations, their job is now yours. Fire...

    Death Valley trip

In November 2018, my then 81 year old dad flew from Florida to San Diego, and we spent 12 days zigzagging 2200 miles around California, Arizona , and Utah, before beelining back to Florida on interstates. II wish we had more time. Death valley impressed us both, more than the Grand Canyon did...

Why is USB-C cabling a mess?

There are Usb C to Micro usb adapters. Im using my c cables and C female to micro usb male adapters to charge older phones I use only on wifi or as mp3 players. Just got a more rare usbc female to usbA female adapter, to charge one magnetic tailcap flashlight from a portable usb C male source...
