Interesting you brought up the 5w-50. I’m getting ready to do the change in my x540 and debating switching to that instead of low vis Hygard.

Problem is you have to take the operators station off to get to that black cap and there’s no drain plug. Doable but a huge pain. Most people pull the trans and turn it upside down to drain out all the fluid and then refill, or tap a new fill and drain plug.

Looks like a nice D140. The transmission is the weak spot on those. They have a “non-serviceable” transmission but you can service it you really want, it’s just a process of removing the whole rear axle/transmission.
