My 18’ 6.7 CTD ran extremely well on the 15-40 Delvac Extreme. But Im using VPBE 5-40 in my 22’ and just today went through a drive through sitting in line, up next to the building and not a click or a tick.

So much for having to use 10-30 or 5-40 and needing to be synthetic. How many miles have been with 15-40 and do you run the truck commercially ?

My son runs the same oil and filter in his 19’ Charger SRT 6.4L. He’s probably getting close to 100K miles and you still can’t hear the engine running other than the exhaust.

I’m in the process of having 2 implants done. Started in June of this year and still don’t have teeth. The first bone graft didn’t take in 1 part and had to be removed and replaced with another 6-8 weeks wait. Just recently installed the second implant again and it will be at least another 6-8...

I noticed in the UOA that I recently ran using the VPBE that it did drop viscosity from the advertised 15.3cst down to 13.6cst @ 100*C. I think the Mobil Delvac starts out around 13.8 cst. Would be interesting to see if it holds the viscosity better.

You might be on to something. The lifter and cam problems are very wide spread among newer engines also. And the new roller lifters seem to be worse for wear than the old flat tappets.

We finally got some cooler weather (highs in the mid 80’s lows in the 50’s) so last fuel I bought I didn’t add the Archoil and it seems to be doing ok. Haven’t noticed any difference in EGT’s with and without. I also got fuel in a different location.

When in doubt, change to Severe Gear 75w-90.

It’s just as bad on the diesel side too with all of the emissions problems and frequent regeneration and fuel dilution in the oil. Continuous problems with no solutions.

I usually let mine get down to a 1/4 tank so that a 2 1/2 gallon jug brings it up to 3/4. As long as there is some sloshing going on in the tank, it will be fine.

Besides HPL or Amsoil, which 15-40(s) would you recommend ?

It doesn’t matter what micron the filter media is when the trash is in the center tube. Maybe good for next pass if it makes it through the bearings or pushrods or any other small orifices.

Hit the + button and it will show which gear it is in. Then push it again to go to the next higher gear unless it is already in 8th. In that event it will go back to “D”. With the programming Ram uses for the transmission, it may go up a gear and may not according to the rpm and load on the engine.
