    What happened here (mower deck)?

You should be able to rebuild those spindles if it is cost advantageous. Probably would want to soak them in solvent prior to attempting that job to give you the best chance of success.

Mower decks- sealed or serviceable spindles?

For sure, the spindles were noisy and probably had a little bit of play. Bet the grease inside was dried up.

Stihl FS56 vs Echo SRM 210

SRM probably just needs a carb to run. I use a 28 year old 210 for weekly weedeating, and also run a 20 year old 230 for edging duty. Both have been flawless! As long as you aren't routinely weedeating very tall vegetation, you'll love the 210 for its light weight and power. Even if you do...

Mower decks- sealed or serviceable spindles?

You can fill up the spindle as much as you want, the excess will sling out as it runs. Seems like around 700 hours is the lifespan of John Deere sealed bearings, at least it was in my case on my 1983 JD 318. Bought in 2020, the deck had seen better days. I got a replacement greasable 48"...

Having more and more back luck with lead acid batteries?

The battery in our '22 GMC Yukon XL died this spring at about 24 months. Must have been a bad cell because it dropped to around 10 volts fairly quickly. Fortunately was a warranty replacement. With the active battery management, wouldn't surprise me if it shortens battery life. Routinely...

Are these vintage two stroke oils even usable anymore?

I'd use them in an older engine that I could afford to lose, prob mix it a little stronger than 50:1. Back in the day, 32:1 was more common. Probably wouldn't hurt anything to use them up. Might be more valuable to a collector, though.

New lawn mower blades don't seem very sharp

Me too. I've switched and never looked back. Leaves a much more consistent edge too vs a solid abrasive disc.

New lawn mower blades don't seem very sharp

I have not one but two scars on my fingers ... same finger, both hands, from cleaning underneath a mower deck after sharpening the blades. BAD idea! They were razor sharp and got me good.

Glock 40 caliber, should I keep?

Interesting. Makes sense, I have been a 9mm/.45 cal guy myself.

Glock 40 caliber, should I keep?

I guess I'm out of the loop, probably for the last 10 years. If .40 isn't as popular anymore, what is the new hot ticket on the market?

Toro Timemaster getting hard to start

My vote as well. Have a 7 HP Briggs Intek that demonstrated this exact symptom, new coil fixed it and it starts easier than ever.

Need recommendations for a battery charger

I've used a 1.5 or 2 amp Schumacher and it works very well. No issues getting even a big truck battery from normal usage levels up to fully topped off within 6 to 10 hours.

Straight 30 or 15W40 for hard use air cooled small engine?

Might have to try 15w40 in my 1969 JD 140 H3 garden tractor. The single cylinder Kohler works hard on a 46" deck, and it consumes a bit of oil, from full to low every 5 to 10 hours in the heat of summer. This is with Rotella t4 10w30. Thanks for the info!

Straight 30 or 15W40 for hard use air cooled small engine?

That's a good data point. Any weak points on Generac units from your experience?

Love the NOCO10. Nice amps to charge a big battery quickly.

What causes flat spots in tread of trailer tires

Is it braked on both axles? Maybe it's locking up when empty and you can't tell. Hard to say though, 800 miles isn't a lot.

What oil should I use 2016 Mazda 6 Skyactiv 2.5L non turbo?

Congrats, it's an excellent sedan. Ours has north of 150k, I have used Mazda oil for the first 130k or so, then switched to Costco brand 0w20. The Mazda OEM oil is great stuff, but the Costco price is too good to pass up and it's a great oil. I use it on our 2022 Yukon XL as well, so that's...

What causes flat spots in tread of trailer tires

Think there's some confusion in the reply. You're talking about physical wear down on the tread of the tire, correct? Versus flat spotting ... deformation of the wheel from sitting in one spot for a long time. Agreed on the low quality. Had a blowout and near-blowout on two generic trailer...
