A310 It's great to see someone actually use a bypass filter the way it was designed to be used! Congrats on the 20k mile oci. Keep up the good work.

    Easy peel hard boiled eggs

Oldtom, I've been using this method for some 30+ yrs Take your eggs out of the fridge ahead of time and bring them closer to room temperature. Bring a pot of water to a boil, and drop the eggs in 1 at a time with some tongs. It helps to keep the batch of eggs to no more than 10-12. (warming...

    My extravagant (ridiculous?) filtration system

Linctex It's great to see your setup on your truck. I've shown on my 5.4L V8 on my 2011 Expedition that these modular V8 engines are pretty easy on oil. From my experience whenever you replace your full flow filters at say 25k miles, your replacement oil should be sufficient to keep the TBN...

    Piecing together bypass kit.

CrazyMike I'm all for saving money, but how much money are you thinking you'll save? Although I run a Dual bypass filter setup on my gas engine, I run the same filters that you would run on your 6.7L PSD. I can tell you without exception that my Amsoil Dual bypass BMK 23-EA works [censored]...

3 Reasons to NOT do Extended OCIs

75k oil uoa https://imgur.com/gallery/YmO4D I'm currently 78k miles into an indefinite oci. I'm running a dual bypass setup and I get a uoa every 6k to no more than 12.5k miles. So far so good!

Amsoil SS 5w-20, 75,000 miles, '11 Ford Expedition

Linctex That's an excellent question. The filters I run are pretty big, approx 1.5-2 quarts. The full flow is an Amsoil Eao-26, and the Bypass is an Amsoil BP-100. 3 full flow changes, and 1 Bypass change for approx 6-8 quarts plus 5 quarts of top off for a total of 13 quarts.

    Anyone else...jeep wrangler

Insertcoolname I've got a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. In December 2015 I replaced the 255/75/17 factory BFG's with a set of 285/70/70 BFG KM2 tires. The tires have been great. They were the biggest tires I could put on it without lifting it. They're actually quieter than the smaller 255/75/17 tires...

Does oil color really not mean anything?

lukejo When I switched from M1 5w-20 to Amsoil SS 5w-20 ( approx 73k miles ago), one of the 1st things I noticed was how quickly the oil got dark. The oil is rated for 25k miles, so if you dump it at 8-10k miles your only using roughly 40% of its potential. I'm running a dual bypass setup and...

    Anyone run 20k+ mi. OCIs?

Bxnanaz Surprisingly the SS 5w-20 Amsoil gets dark pretty fast. I'm not sure when I'll dump all the oil and start over. I'll do another uoa in about 3k miles when I change my Full flow filter @ 75k miles. The Eao -26 filter I run is pretty big (1.5-2 quarts) and will boost my TBN up a few...

    Anyone run 20k+ mi. OCIs?

Bxnanaz That's a really good question. When I started this Dual Bypass Filter experiment almost 2 yrs ago I wasn't sure how well it was going to work. I kept an open mind and figured that I would see how the uoa's came back and go from there. After a few uoa's I noticed a pattern and determined...

    Anyone run 20k+ mi. OCIs?

RonRonnster First of all, Welcome to this forum. There are many knowledgeable members with a wealth of information here. I started running a dual bypass filter with Amsoil SS 5w -20 in Jan 2016 after my 2011 Expedition was out of warranty. I'm currently 72k miles into my current oci. Occasional...

OE Michelin's only 50% worn at 85k miles

Traction This is not really surprising. My last 2 sets of Michelin LTX/MS2's size 275/55/20 I ran to about 80-85k miles to a tread depth of 5/32's and sold them on Craigslist. The last set I sold last April for $280. If I were you I would list them for about $225. You should have no problem...

mdv I agree with Danno and increase your OCI up another few thousand miles say to 12k miles. There's a lot of life left in that oil. Thanks for your post!
