Lake Speed jr. Thick vs. Thin video.

We still don't know how to? I'd like to keep my MB diesels from failing due to those huge vertical cartridge filters that know one understands how to pre-fill...

    Pre-fill OF

Just a thought: some of you may be familiar with the old OM61x and OM60x Mercedes diesel engines. They have a massive cartridge oil filter that can't be prefilled yet they are known for minimal if not invisible bearing wear even at very high miles when maintained properly. MB engineers never...

    Post your latest oil change

1995 Mercedes C250 Diesel, odo not working, around 500,000 km. OCI: around 10,000 km, 18 months. Out: Store brand 15W40 + can't remember what filter went in back then. In: Total Quartz 10W40 + Stark filter.

    Severe drop in parts quality

I've always been very disappointed by the vibration. Lightly pushing the gas pedal in reverse made something snap inside the mount.

    Severe drop in parts quality

It looks like it's not the case anymore for some MB cars. They don't even look the same in my case. A few years back, some Lemförder mounts had the MB star removed and where obviously the same part in different boxes.

    Severe drop in parts quality

Basically more than half of the new aftermaket parts i've bought during the last year or so are just crap that fails 6 months later. Last in date being a Febi driveshaft carrier bearing that failed after a few hundred kms. Bought the new parts again but at the dealer this time and decided to go...

It never fails.... oil pan drain plug threads stripped out by mechanic.

Just had a mechanic replace a flex disc and carrier because i was too lazy to do it myself, he wasn't a rocket scientist either. Had to redo everything myself.

    Fail-Pro Gaskets

I've had my share of terrible aftermarket parts, even from reputable brands. OEM is perhaps the only guarantee of not having to do the job twice. Most of the issues my car has is related to those parts installed during the past year or so and not the old worn out stuff from 97 that was obviously...

    Highest viscosity euro 40wt oils

Total Quartz 5W40 is around 14.8 cSt. But is it available in the US? This is the first oil i ever bought for my first oil change and my 1000th message on bitog is about it lol.

    Mercedes driveline rumble

Problem found! When i thought about giving up i decided to give the rear (new) flex disc a look which was a shot in the dark and understand how it works, then i saw this video: This is was happened to me, the driveshaft was pushing on the soft portion of the flexdisc. Decided to turn the...

    Mercedes driveline rumble

I've replaced them as well. Something wrong with the u-joint is on the top of my list right now, even if it seems to move freely. Out of the hundreds of threads i've read on the internet, it looks like people experiencing the same issue had to replace the u-joint. I don't know if it's linked but...

    Mercedes driveline rumble

Update: I have tried unbolting the engine mounts, trans mount and carrier, roll the car back and forth and re tighten but nothing happened. The mechanic says it could be a wheel bearing or CV axle but as i understand, a CV axle would only cause a vibration under load. There's a bit of play at...

    Mercedes driveline rumble

Ok now the driveshaft is properly aligned. It made a small improvement but it's still horrible. I am really running out of ideas and thinking about selling the car.

    Mercedes driveline rumble

He made a mark with a pencil and was probably sloppy when reinstalling the driveshaft. He admitted not knowing about the aforementioned marks and i showed him the picture. He told me having a lot of experience with BMWs and their driveshafts seem to have a master spline or so he told me, and he...

    Mercedes driveline rumble

The mechanic acknowledged his error and is going to realign the two parts tomorrow, i'll keep you posted. A W126 owner on YT told me his driveshaft had a bad vibration and it was only off by one tooth.

TC-W3 vs JASO FC/FD as fuel additive in a diesel engine

I use any 2 stroke oil at 1:150 ratio, and my injectors are definitely quieter! Had to fill up two times while in spain and didn't have 2 stroke oil with me and the 2000-2500 rpm clatter under load was back until the next fill up with 1:150 2 stroke. Could have been the fuel sold at the Repsol...

    Mercedes driveline rumble

But the driveshaft is always turning as long as the car is moving, i don't see how being in neutral would make it more "balanced".
