Why are SAE sockets formatted in fractions?

Like the snap on (not the brand) length guards on hair clippers. They're 1/8" based (#1 = 1/8, #2 = 2/8, etc).

Anyone know a GOOD steering rack rebuilder?

I'd stay clear of Rackdoctor. I ordered one last summer for a Sienna and waited about 2 months before I cancelled my order. Took another 3 weeks or so of calls/emails saying that I'd get my refund "today". Finally had to do a PayPal dispute and got my $$ back. After the fact, I did some research...

Pricing of OEM Toyota/ Lexus parts in the Seattle (Tacoma) area- local practice of new nationwide trend?

Yes, I've seen it in action here, too. I've mentioned the list price to them and they've knocked some off as a result. Lately, I've been pooling my purchases so I can get free shipping from online dealers like McGeorge who also discount their parts.

    Best budget sockets?

Regarding their warranty, I had loaned out my set and the guy managed to break the ratchet mechanism. Tekton had a replacement build kit in the mail the same day I contacted them.

I didn't know the unstaking tool existed and wish I had had one when I replaced my Sienna's wheel bearing. I garfed up the axle spinning the nut off, but it was still usable, fortunately. ETA: I did try to unstake it with a punch, but I'm afraid I didn't do a very good job.
