Possibly getting rid of the CX-50

Yeah like I said earlier, Mazda's are great vehicles but not my cup of tea. Each time I've test driven a CX-5, there were too many things(some I can't put my finger on) that I didn't like for my criteria when looking for vehicles.

Possibly getting rid of the CX-50

What else have you considered? How about a CX-5? To me, the CX-5 is a nicer CX-50 with an independent rear suspension and maybe a slightly roomier interior without being a much larger of a vehicle, if at all. I believe that this is the last model year for the current CX-5(before the next...

Possibly getting rid of the CX-50

Yeah, I'd get rid of your CX-50 as soon as possible while it's still worth decent money. Ya know, it's at the right age and decently low mileage. You should do well with some negotiation especially if you trade-in on another MAZDA. I mean, Mazda's reputation is very good as is their reliability...

Possibly getting rid of the CX-50

I bought new, a 2001 LEXUS RX300 that was kind of a PITA. I kept it for 15 years but it was always something starting from year 2. Not quite as bad as your CX-50 but bad just the same for a LEXUS. Cars made in Japan are not exceptions to problems unless you happen to get the one example that...

    Anyone here scrap metals?

When my wife's father past away in 2020 at 92, we drove down to FL(2X/total 3 months) to clean out his house and basically threw a lot of stuff away. We sold what we could including the house. However in one trip, I had ~500 lbs of scrap metals and only got $35. Every now & again, I see an old...

    Aged Spares, Options?

That's one way to look at it. However, I like to take some nice weekend get-a-ways(4-6 hrs each way) and also like to drive from NY-FL or NY-AZ for those longer vacations. So I want to know that I can make my trip.

    Aged Spares, Options?

I too keep a tire plug kit in my trunk/hatch area below the floor along with some tools to help in aiding nail/screw removal. As well as some minor tools for that just in case need when on the road/hiwy such as an HF tire inflator, 4-Way lug nut wrench and even a cheap HF clicker Tq wrench to...

    options for undercarriage rust protection?

This is something new to me in my knowledge and in my area. It's WAXOYL The shop has been around for about 25 years and 10 years doing some kind of rust control type of products but this stuff I believe is NEW. https://corrosionproplus.com Watch some of the videos. I can't believe that the guy...

    Aged Spares, Options?

I prefer to buy a full size tire just like what's on the vehicle including the wheel(as long as it fits in the spare tire wheel-well). And I prefer to do a 5 tire rotation including the extra tire. If I am on a road trip and get a flat tire, I just want to be able to put on a same size...

    Synthetic oil question

I may be saying this incorrectly but here goes. Many, but not all synthetic oils are Hydro processed mineral/conventional oils(GROUP III). There is still the(GROUP IV) PAO(polyalphaolefin) including some(but not all) of Mobil 1 oils. And there are Ester Synthetic oils(GROUP V) as in the past...

Do I have to change my coolant?

Yes, you have probably pushed two years further than you should have but I’m sure no damage is done. I would change it now and continue on a five-year cycle regardless of mileage because it’s the right thing to do. Why wait for problems & to happen. This is called preventive maintenance.

Vibration under braking fixed with new rotors but coming back

Before installing the rotors, did you clean/wire wheel the hub mating surface? I'm not sure on the "sanding of the pad surfaces"

Continental pure contact, 1 yr in.

From anyone on the forum that doesn't list their location, when discussing tires, I'd like to know(not where you live) but, what is the climate you live in and foul weather you experience. What tire works for you may not for everyone even as good as that tire may be.

Continental pure contact, 1 yr in.

Good review and I'm glad you're happy with them. (y) With my 2015 Altima SV(sold in '23), I had looked into(not the PURE CONTACT) but the Continental TRUECONTACT TOUR as they met my ride & quiet criteria along with other foul weather factors as well. I also looked into the Bridgestone...

    Oil change

It was the right engine at the right time and in the right vehicle(s). The 3.8L pushrod engine was as good as any V6 OHC 4V/cyl from Japan at that time. It made good power & torque and got good MPG. I know that the 3800 was also in the Camaro/Firebird too but the best chassis for it was the...
