    Valvoline Advanced vs Extended Protection

I use these oils in my Ram, I do spring/fall oil changes and will never see more than 5k in that time frame. In fact it’s usually 3-4k. They both have healthy levels of moly and boron so I think they both work fine. But I’ve usually gone with the extended just for the slightly higher levels of...

I hope not, as it’s not my intention to Fram bash at all. I’ve used them many times in the past 25 years. And in this particular vehicle has been used probably 90% of its life. (It was her grandfathers car and Fram is all he used). I’m sure I may use them again at some point in the future. As...

I’ve been super impressed with the PG’s and the STP XL’s. I don’t think the STP’s are PG unless I’m mistaken but they look similar. I’ll probably stick with those on my Ram and Her Jeep.

    Fram PH3980 C&P 5,500 mi

I remember back when I was a teenager doing an oil change in my folks 97 F150, was only a couple years old truck then. Had a skid plate that you had to reach around to get to the filter. I didn’t pay attention to see if I had the old oil filter gasket before adding the new one. So, when I fired...

This one was from the previous OCI on my 2000 Buick Century w/ 64k. Used for commute 54 miles each way all highway. Maxlife syn blend 5w30 and 5,400 miles 3 month OCI. I got ahead of myself and didn’t take an intact pic with the full date code, but some of it is there 😂 Fiber end caps were...

    Fram PH3980 C&P 5,500 mi

Torque seemed normal when I removed it. I don’t have anymore Frams to use for a while to see if there was some sort of trend starting either. But I know after the first one it made me paranoid so I’ve been double checking. I’m not a Fram basher, I’ve used them a lot over 25 years. But I will be...

Well, it sits on the block at an angle and I could see the oil dripping down the length of the filter from the gasket. But the rust is kinda odd since the filter was only on there for slightly less than 3 months.

From the gasket. And I thought on the first one I might’ve over tightened it, so I’ve been extra careful to not do that. I’ve never had a filter do it either as far as I can recall.

Well, I went back out to the garage. I was able to flake it off with my fingernail. And it does kinda look like rust underneath but I’m not sure, the orange paint looks like overspray.

Hey guys, this was on my 2000 Buick Century with 64k on it. It’s my commute car which is all highway 54 miles each way. Ran Maxlife Blend 5w30. Put a Prime Guard on it for this run. Note: this filter started leaking the last 1,000 miles or so which is the 2nd Fram EG to do that in the last...

VIRGIN DONALDSON #P 55132 CUT OPEN

I’ve never had a 2014 plus LS engine. So I can’t speak on that later design. But I had 3 2007-2013 generation GM Trucks. And all of them had piston slap at start up. That was with synthetic oil and Wix filters at the time.
