    Slate EV Pickup

    - Hopefully Slate can tap into the Amazon logistics chain, that would be Huuuuuge, not just for parts/accessory delivery, economies of scale [discounted buying power], but also 1st mile flow of components into the final assembly point - Don't think I've read about financing.... Real world...

    interesting experience at fuel/convenience station

Sadly, I am seeing this more and more often and 100% agree NOT your fault. (I am trying very hard here to confirm with BITOG COC with my language here...) Not only convenience stations, also: coffee kiosk at airport, ice cream stand, [overpriced] franchise barber shop. Think the owners are...

Thinking of trading in the truck for a Tahoe...crazy?

One thing to consider would be renting a Suburban for the days you need one. Renting a few days, several times a year might be lower than Cost, taxes and such for trading/buying

    United Airlines 747 Sendoff

Always loved the 74 and spent most of my ramp time on them. Sadly, RONA was the trigger that resulted in the earlier than planned retirement of our 747 fleet. BAMC still exists in a different form now, but for decades we were doing almost all our mait. there to include heavy-D and engine...

Best 5W-40 or 0W-40 For DI Noise?

Gotta say, I think the industry really dropped the ball, or jumped the gun too early on this GDI. Wish they found that 0.2 MPG a different way. (That ticking in my Tacoma makes me fell so ghetto)

Thread for photos that 100% do not violate any Terms Of Service, not political, not too lewd, no gas price pics etc.

Rat-Rod show in Berryville, VA this weekend. '38 Plymouth was my favorite. (Love these things, maybe some day):

    Deck cleaner

I have also used that stuff with success, but :o at the $. The general purpose ZEP brand power-washing solution from Home Depot seemed to work just as well for much less $... Now does it offer the mold/mildew prevention properties Mold-Armor implies? IDK, sold the place within 6 months...

    Sub Deflation

Agreed, they got nothing on Philly / South Jersey... Here in Virginia where 9/10 the [x] franchise will put discussing mayonnaise on everything by default: Wawa is a solid option. (Better than Sheetz, 100% better than Subway)

Old Soviet Venus Probe is Crashing Back to Earth 5/10/2025

Very interesting. 100% that thing is chock full of cancer/toxic stuff and I'd bet $200 Radioactive also Within 30 seconds of reading this, my mind drifted to thinking of persons I would not be sad to see this hit. (NOT naming any names, no political drift, just wondering am I the only one?)

Frame Rust Control - How Did You Do It?

Ooooofffff those last couple pictures look a bit rough. Lots of good tips here, good luck! FWIW: - Used Corrosion-x for several years, but got a little tired of the higher than I wanted to pay cost and the newer flip/straw dispenser leaks like CRAZY, that is the final straw - Fluid-Film...

Rain-X Graphene Exterior Detail & CeramiX Exterior Detail

I would not trust it. Think of the investment of your time doing a job like this. You're looking for 4-6 months worth of protection... I would stick to top shelf name brands like Mcguires or at least Turtle Wax. (Side drift, I check out Ollies a few times a year myself and have area rugs...

Best additive to prevent fuel gumming up the carb?

Sorry. Basic Honda lawnmowers. Dad and I had the same model purchased about the same time from the local Honda OPE dealer. Point was having it sit idle with cheap 10% ethanol gas for 2 years may have killed it. We will see when carb gasket kit comes in.

Long Haul Airline Pilots Preference ?

My airline advertises the newer 787s have better temperature, humidity and pressure controls offering increased passenger comfort. I don't know to what degree that is. 1%, 5%, 10% IDK. I've flown in just about all of them, I work on the ground, so not often mind you, but cannot really say...

    Reman Transmissions.

Sad, not that old and can't get parts... I tried to get some stuff for a family members [beater] Saturn. Could not find some of the badly needed vacuum and PVC stuff. Parts guy at GM dealer said around the 10 year mark, they pretty much give up. Note: early 90's I was still able to find...

Best additive to prevent fuel gumming up the carb?

91 Octane 100% gas with the recommended ratio of Sta-bil (Blue). Many seasons with this and no problems, even when I was gone for extended periods (Deployment) and don't really do anything special at the end of the season. Conversely, my father passed last year. He had a nice Honda less than...

    Slate EV Pickup

In! Put down the $50 today 🤘 This will be a 2nd car for me, I still really like my '17 Tacoma. Putting this thing on commuter duty will not only save me gas $ but extend the life of the Tacoma, that I frankly could not afford to replace I love the no frills, modest size, DIY friendly, build...

    Rant: EV Tires

I maintained a Prius-c for someone; 3 sets of tires over ~115k miles. 2nd set were the same as the OEM (Goodyear high MPG something IDK for sure). 3rd set were top shelf Continentals [something-DWS?] NOT a Hybrid or MPG specific model. Hands down they were far superior to the OEM Hybrid...

Vehicle Sighting - '80s Plymouth Caravelle

"Different Folks, Different Strokes" I feel like 95% of them were either totaled by the new drivers who inherited them 3rd hand from their parents, junked for scrap or donated to charity.

Add Water to Battery or Acid?

+1 on distilled water only (The water evaporated, the acid did not) FWIW a few years ago I pulled 6 pairs of large batteries that were newish, but left to bake in the desert for 2-3 years. (Literally, baking in a motorpool in Africa where it was 90-120 every day). Cleaned up, we could only...
