It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

Anyone who’s monkey’s with AMCs knows how much their V8 engine blocks weigh. In the 90s my go-to winter oil was Esso XD-3 0W40. The other three seasons, mostly in small and big block Chevs, SAE 30 or 15w 40. My son’s 350 van on LPG used 15w50 Delvac year round. Back then, he lived in the...

    Mavis tries to strike again

Most new car dealerships will price match. Ever notice how often salespeople poke their noses in the service waiting rooms trying to upsell customers into a new car or truck?

Cadillac's sales collapse in China, down 50 percent in four years

I looked into that on the build and price feature on GMs website. It depends on which Corvette with what options. One thing missing on dealership lots are tons of three year old Corvette lease returns. Most of the used Cadillacs are low mileage lease returns with every option at half the cost...

Engine Oil choices at a Ukrainian version of American Lowe’s

We have Petro-Canada lubricants. What more could you ask for? We’re not sending money, but instead M777s, extra barrels and stale dated 155mm ammo.

How’s does vis 100C shear compare with HTHS shear?

Noack, evaporation losses also counter thinning from permanent shear.

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

Haven’t you heard, it’s the 0w20. There’s no sense in replacing the engine and using the same thin oil. What do you call repeating an experiment over and over expecting a different result?

Gm Invests in V-8 Engines Back pedaling on EVs

Then you wanna Tonawanda, not one built by Hose A and his brother Hose B.

I’d be happy with a 9.9L V12 based off the 6.6L HD truck engine.

    Castrol EDGE does it all...

The first thing that came to mind when I read it was the drug tPA. Intelligent molecules breaking up sludge clots in your engine.

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

It seems lately that everyone with a cell phone on a stick is a YT content provider. Sadly most of them wouldn’t have a clue what you are talking about. Back in the day I had several SBC and BBC engines rebuilt. The machine shop would ask me what I wanted for bearing clearance. Always the same...

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

If you haven’t already. 0W40 M1 FS is the all weather, one size fits all replacement for 0w20 and 5w30 Dexos.

Re-Looking at Amsoil for problem engines.(Ford Ecoboost and GM 5.3/6.2)

What’s Delvac 0w40@40C, also sold at Walmart? More important, than viscosity at 40C, HTHS is 4.1 and the flashpoint is 240C.

oil recommendation for GM 5.3L trucks

Unless you’re going to run a conventional 10w40, there aren’t many synthetic choices out there at reasonable prices. With all the hoopla about the 6.2L running on 0w20, the Dexos approved 0W40 seems like a logical choice for all 2014 and newer GM V8s.

    GM aborting move to 0w-40

Because of the elliptical orbit of the connecting rod, the bearings self pump better than main bearings. What are the rod and main bearing clearances in the 6.2L? I’m blaming the low viscosity 0w20 being insufficient for the journal diameters, bearing clearances, rpm and low oil pressure...
