    Pentius PLXL 7317 C&P 5k miles

Max Life ATF jacked up my old Nissan Sentra F04 transmission. It never shifted right again. Shift flare, late upshifts out of low gears when cold, stuff like that.

    Honda HR216 - Side Discharge

Those Honda side shoots don't shoot very far. It's serviceable if the grass isn't very tall, and if the grass is dry. I was never happy with the results I got out of the side shoot. My experience, Honda mowers are at their best when bagging. Mulching is second best, and side shoot, marginal...

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

LOL, what maker of full size pickup trucks is going to challenge the big 3? Answer: NONE.

    "Fuel Efficiency Standards Are Dead"

I say, let the market decide. Hybrids save gas. In places like California, where gas is expensive, the savings can be real. EV can save money also, if you have some place to charge at home. For people living where gas is cheap, I don't see the point of pushing high mpg vehicles down...

    Pros and bleeding brakes?

I've run the gambit of bleeding brakes. Vacuum bleeding (miti-vac), conventional (person pumping the brake lever), and pressure, and hands down, pressure works best. Get an adapter that fits your master cylinder, and a Motive bug sprayer pump. Some people fill the sprayer tank with brake...

Is my low mileage V6 Accord a good candidate for VRP or a HM oil?

There is no downside to R&P, other than maybe a few bucks extra. I'd use it and see what happens.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

I mix 0W-20 and 5w-30 sometimes, which makes 2.5W-25. It runs great in my Civic! :D

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

First off, OEM's spec thin oil, and they wouldn't do that if it put your engine at risk. Second, nobody is getting denied warranty for using a thicker oil. Is it needed, in most cases NO. But if you feel better, knock yourself out. And if you run at a track day, I don't care what oil you...

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

I've mentioned this again and again on this forum, and NOBODY, has ever been able to provide evidence that a dealer will deny warranty based on the type of oil used. Yet, again and again and again and again (to infinity) we have people here panicking about only using the grade of oil in their...

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Toyota uses 0W-16. It says so in the manual. Oil Grade: 0W-16 "oil one grade higher may be used for high speeds or extreme conditions". That's not what's installed at the factory, though.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Toyota's recommended oil is 0W-16 in that engine. That's what's installed at the factory.

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

Assuming the oil is thick enough to avoid metal to metal contact, increasing viscosity adds no value. And I certainly hope, trust, that big motor companies like Toyota and Honda are not compromising durability for the sake of CAFE numbers. Fuel dilution is a question. Honda has put out a...

Viscosity: Engine protection Vs. enhanced mileage

What company has the best reputation for durability? Answer: Toyota. What company specs the thinnest oil in the industry? Answer: Toyota. The "thickies" give me a chuckle. Move from a 20 to a 40 grade oil? What's the basis? Opinion. No science. "Thin oil is about "the epa" or "cafe". No...
