    Getting Old

I swore I would never be the old guy going 45 mph in an old pickup truck yet here I am being the one holding up traffic every single time I get on the road. Time sure does fly.

Was taught a hard lesson over a faulty primer bulb

It's that time of year to be cutting wood for the winter. I've had so many projects going that I haven't even cleaned my stihl 390 and 250 from last years cutting yet. I haven't had a carb failure since I started using non ethanol gas in my chainsaws.

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I put some in my 05 Hemi RAM but it will probably be six or eight months before it See's 3000 miles and gets another oil change.

How big is your stash, hoarders?

My stash is all gone. Once I retired I actually started using it. Before I would buy the oil and filters thinking I was going to magically have time to do my own oil change then just go somewhere and pay for it. I was amazed at how many car parts I had on the shelf for cars I had twenty or...

What do you think about this electrical work?

Im a retired contractor. It's hard to make any money doing residential work. You have to pay the guys to drive back and forth all day and the homeowners only want to pay for the couple minutes on the job. Commercial bid work and industrial was 99% of our work.

What do you think about this electrical work?

It's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like an automatic transfer switch next to the main panel. 26 kW would have a 200 amp switch available even if the generator only supplied 100 amps. The Romex is probably to a receptacle if there wasnt one close to the generator.

What do you think about this electrical work?

It's sloppy work but so is all the other wiring as far as those pics show around the panel. They probably figured it didn't matter. It all comes down to what you are willing to pay for.

Should I regrease inner tripod CV joint after a clamp leak?

I always like to add a little grease when they start to age if the boot is still good. I made a needle fitting a while back for my grease gun. I took a grease fitting and soldered a needle valve like you would use for a basket ball on the end then sharpened it on the grinder. That little...

Anyone else like the expandable ratchets?

I haven't tried one yet. I have however broken many 3/8 drive ratchets and breaker bars by sticking a piece of 3/4" pipe on the end of them.

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

I have a 25 year old cub cadet zforce zero turn that I still use occasionally. The original deck has rusted away and I had to modify a deck from a newer regular mower to make it mow again. Once again it's ready for another electric clutch so you can't mow tall grass with it but at least it runs...

    Air compressor oil

Air compressor oil is whatever you have on the shelf the day you decide to change it. That reminds me that I probably should check mine seeing how its been probably 10 years since I last checked it.

Why didn’t my CAFCI breaker open? (A tale of three battery chargers)

If you aren't going to reuse the breaker then take it apart and see if its even real. There are many counterfeit breakers and gfci receptacles that look identical to the name brand ones. I've seen SQd ones have nothing inside except a jumper wire and I've seen Hubble gfci receptacles that have...

    Makita Battery Charger

The aftermarket batteries are usually half the advertised amp hours. The only way to get anything out of them is by overcharging them with a big power supply.

    Makita Battery Charger

Many of these knockoff chargers don't have a very big transformer in them and don't charge worth a nickel. I bought a couple for my old Porter cable and at first I thought it was the knockoff batteries. I ended up running a couple jumper wires from an old Milwaukee 18 volt charger and the...

article: Previous owner retains control over Tesla

Is there nobody reprogramming these cars yet so the owner has complete control over all functions? Even cell phones can fake locations, ID and even block connections so why not cars?

What are you doing right now?

Finishing up lower control arm bushings on an 05 Dodge RAM 4x4 and wishing that I had spent the extra money for new control arms with bushings installed. OMG this is pain getting the old bushings out. Finally just burned the rubber out then used a sawzall to cut the outer metal and finished with...

Super Start Platinum AGM battery failures.

Aren't all lead batteries the same now between the brands? Sounds like you just got a bad one. Pry the top off and check each individual cell with a meter when you get ready to replace it. My guess is one cell doesn't have good plate separation and isn't holding a charge.

Tree limb landed on my electrical service..

We've had several cities make people do all those upgrades whenever the power was disconnected. I was against that nonsense. Luckily they didn't require it statewide and they still let homeowners do their own electrical work. My company did volunteer work with local churches for those that...

Tree limb landed on my electrical service..

Im a retired electrical contractor in Kentucky. 5 grand seems a bit high seeing how they only have to put up a new mast. If you are still allowed to use service entrance cable like in you PIC it would be an easy fix. Even adding a ten foot stick of rigid conduit straight up from the top of the...

    Lasergrips for J frame S&W $80
