The thermostat determines the minimum operating temperature and the fan, either mechanical or electric, determines the maximum operating temperature. If your engine is running cool it doesn't mater what the fan or radiator is doing....ZERO coolant should be flowing to it as the thermostat keeps...

When you say "light off road trails", what exactly do you have in mind? Somewhat well maintained fire roads, not-so-well maintained gravel and dirt roads? Or are we talking about crawling over small logs and rocks while truly off road?

Well lets think about this...that is $70 to turn a pair of rotors. That is about 0.3-0.5 hours of labor depending on the shops labor rate. I'd say that is pretty good since it will probably take a half hour from start to finish for the rotors to get turned. Most shops will charge an hour...

Side note....it is crazy what oil is going for at the box stores. Lots of $10.99-$11.99's there. Walmart is starting to catch up too. BTW....6 quarts of Mobil1 EP 5W-30 goes for about $50 shipped from RockAuto :) I was just at Autozone this weekend to get some oil for the snowblower...

Considering it only takes 3.5 quarts....I'd keep going every 3k miles until the fluid looks fresh. Then maybe a 15k just to check on it and if things look fine....30k intervals.
