Keeping a car in Storage (Change the oil ? )

My 2020 Wrangler is in a similar scenario as yours, though I put about 2500 miles a year on mine. I do nothing for prep for parking for the winter. I occasionally drive it if the roads are dry, but otherwise I just park it and change the oil when it’s due, around 5000 miles. I keep a battery...

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

Not all corn is used for ethanol. One subsidy I know has been used in Midwestern areas is prevent plant due to Spring rains. The others are for conservation practices. https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10339 Oil sucks up a lot of tax dollars as well. Quite a bit more…..this chart is the proposal...

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

Where’s that data from? Ethanol hasn’t been subsidized since around 2010. Ethanol also destroyed the minimum income subsidy for framers. Subsidy’s for farming are all but dead thanks to ethanol.

E-85 Fiasco with 2010 Buick Lucerne

I have a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country and go back and forth quite a bit. I really like to use it on long trips to do a cleaning cycle for the fuel system. I still get 20-22 mpg on E85 compared to 24-25 on E10. I run it when it is >=$0.35 per gallon difference. My guess is you have a...

A new type of security blanket for young people?

I worked for a Canadian company for a few years. I was baffeled when they were talking about bunny hugs and touques. Bunny Hug= Hoodie Touque= Stocking cap. Cost me a loonie to figure it out.

Modern Automatics, Low RPM, and Engine Longevity

I was pondering this same question as I drove my 2020 Wrangler 3.6L over the weekend. The Pentastar needs some RPM for upper valvetrain oiling, or so I read. Also, the 2 stage oil pump runs a 31PSI at 1000 RPM. Made me think I’m not getting enough oil up top, which will ruin the cams.

    Alternator choices

I put a brand new O'Reilly alternator on my daughters 09 Camry. We will see how that works out long term.

    hit and run damage

I love old Mopars and always wanted a Duster. I felt how you are feeling about my YJ for various reasons, including mechanical, my wife hated it, and I didn’t have time to drive it. I sold it for what I bought it for 5 years earlier. Within months I missed that ugly Jeep and my wife realized...

    Dad's 1947 Lincoln coupe

You may want to try Poppy’s Patina, or the Vice Grip Garage brush on clear. Both can be brushed on or sprayed and offer protection the old paint currently cannot. I’ve always been a restore it fully person, but some cars should be preserved as survivors.

Tell me why not to buy a 2025 Nissan Altima

I had a 2019 Rogue that would do 30mph at 2500 RPM mornings below freezing. It was the only thing I disliked about that car. It was like driving my Jeep at 30mph in 4lo. The torn filter is odd. I’ve had three Nissans with the 2.5 and never once had a torn filter. I hated the valve clatter at...

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

No. I have 600 miles on the second change and it’s an 1/8” below the full mark. Maybe it’s leaking? Oil cooler is a year old. It’s a Chrysler 3.6l with 132,000 miles. My 2020 Wrangler hasn’t used a drop in 1200 miles on its first change of VRP. 58000 miles on its 3.6l.

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

Oddly enough, my van is starting to burn R&P. This is my second run at it. I’ll go back to MaxLife or Havoline in the 6qt box.

    Kia Sludge Factory

Was he a salesman? I used to get told by salesman when I got on them about not going 20k miles on an oil change that they didn’t have time and they needed to be selling. I told them their phone works just as well in a waiting room as it does in an office or driving down the road. I wasn’t...

2023 Wrangler JL 2.0 rental review

I drive a 2017 F150 as a work provided daily driver. I really enjoy that truck and sometimes wonder why I like my Jeep so much. Should I just sell the Jeep? It’s an awfully expensive weekend ride that isn’t the most useful vehicle. Then I drive the Jeep and all thoughts of loving my F150...

    Carmaker Nissan on borrowed time?

I really don’t understand the hate for Nissan. I think it’s people who haven’t owned one. I’ve said it here many times that my family has 5, with 4 of them being Rogues. No issues I had a Rouge that went 150k miles. No issues. My parents have a Lincoln that needed Cam phasers within the...

    Favorite EDC Pocket Knife

I’ve been carrying a Super Tinker Swiss Army knife since I was 13. I still have that knife, though it isn’t EDC anymore. I mentioned it to someone one time and they asked if I was worried I’d lose it. It hadn’t crossed my mind so I bought another. I had the new one a week before I lost it...

Congress removes CARB and other state's ability to set emissions standards

When I lived in CA in the early 2000’s (Central Valley), the air was dirty from dust caused by Ag and a major inversion layer that broke at night. Morning was beautiful and supper time was brown and ugly. CA got too big for its britches. This is a nice reset and I hope it brings some relief to...
