    Porsche design philosophy on service

Those 997.1 were probably getting their IMS bearings done. At the end of the day, people don't buy a Porsche or 911 because they're interested in saving money. Although when you consider depreciation, they're pretty good in that respect.

GF: You spent how much on a gas cap?!

Will have to take a picture of it without anyone inside. The only special option is the red seat belts, makes it feel really special. Highly recommend it if you get to option one. Also, Alcantara delete because I just prefer high quality leather, it lasts longer and is easier to keep cleaner.

GF: You spent how much on a gas cap?!

As a former E46 M3 and Z4 owner... unfortunately I do, I was a prick on the inside.

Lol the dealer parked it in the charging spot at the dealer... plenty of others open though. And it's not a handicap spot, you can see the green curb, the spot next to it was. It's not a BMW, I park it and signal appropriately!

He has another video where he goes through just that.

    OEM Joint Designed Tires

In my experience, at least for Porsche, there doesn't seem to be a wide difference in price between the standard tire and an N rated tire which is designed with Porsche. So I'll pretty much always go with the N rated tire if it's available in my preferred brand and model. Really interesting...

    Porsche design philosophy on service

Same here, feel like with the way inflation is going, especially at dealerships, people are seeking out indies far more. I’ve been going to a particular indie in San Diego called Select German for the last eight years. It was great seeing his shop blow up and eventually have to move to a bigger...

    Porsche design philosophy on service

The service prices are high because their dealer margins are enormous and their techs are very well compensated. It's a dream job for a tech to be a Porsche mechanic. Now Ferrari service rates... wow.

MOTUL 8100 X-MAX 0W-40 Lost Porsche A40 in latest API SP version

I assume the M1 5w40 A40 oil is a bit better than the 0w40? Or pretty much the same?

IIRC, M1 0w40 shears down somewhat quickly no?

MOTUL 8100 X-MAX 0W-40 Lost Porsche A40 in latest API SP version

Looks like it has A40 again? https://shopmotul.com/product/8100-x-max-0w-40 What's the intended difference between this and X-Gen2 5w40? https://shopmotul.com/product/8100-x-cess-gen2-5w-40 Main use case for me are some rigorous twisty road driving and some track days coming up. Currently...

Mobil1 ESP 5W-30 vs Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W-30

Good to know but it seems double the price of ESP 0w30? Worth it? I'm doing 5k changes.

Mobil1 ESP 5W-30 vs Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W-30

I’m actually between these two oils as well in the opposite climate of Palm Springs. Here, cheapest I find Euro LX is $44/6L and ESP 0w30 is $28/5L. I had some Euro LX laying around so used that on my Macan S which has a EA839 engine. I have about 4L left and will probably mix it with the ESP...

    Confusing Porsche Oil Intervals

Certainly agree with that. I changed the transfer case fluid, rear diff fluid, PDK gear oil fluid, PDK clutch fluid, and the engine oil... on my previous '18 Macan S making that 5 different driveline fluids , took an entire day but at least I know it was done right and I used mostly Red Line fluids.

    Video on how ICE works

I informally knew different bits and pieces but I thought this video was really approachable on how everything kind of works together.
