Mobil 1 filter at Walmart has improved 👍

They're everywhere. Also, it's easy to check if these are at your local store. Just check if it has the clear plastic seal or not. The old M+H made filters did not have the seal. Also, the new ones will either say Made in Korea or Made in Vietnam.

I think 15w-40 in my jeep was a mistake

I think you're misinterpreting the point that I tried to make and moving the goalposts. I'm not saying that 15W does anything "better" in hot weather than a 5W. But the idea that you can't safely use a 15W oil, in warmer ambient temps especially, is unnecessary fear. There are several...

    High Mileage vs. VRP

Talking Pennzoil HM blend, or Platinum HM?

I think 15w-40 in my jeep was a mistake

Doesn't this completely depend on what "cold" is defined as? I agree with you if we're talking -10 degrees F cold start, but for summertime "cold" starts in most places, wouldn't this be totally fine? Tons of diesel engines are running 15W oils every day of the year in all areas of the country...

    CrossClimate 3 Tire Release?

Pretty sad for the competition here that they've had years to come out with a CC2 competitor, and all they have to show for it now are a bunch of CC2 clones that Michelin apparently isn't even concerned about...

PUP 5W-30 observations - Getting darker and burning faster than Kirkland?

My 2008 V6 Accord burns oil at roughly that same rate as well, but fluctuates by brand as well, and I've found that 5W-30 Mobil 1 EP High Mileage slows it down better than anything else I've used, so that's what I've settled on. That's after having tried all the following, some of which...

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

I know, that was my point.

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

Yes, I used to avoid them while they were Mann+Hummel. I ran Wix for awhile, but when those started having issues, I stopped buying M+H filters in general.

Fram Endurance / Walmart End of Life ?

I agree with you, it's difficult to find quality filters right now. In my opinion, the new Mobil 1 filters that recently came out are the new ticket. Running one now. Great construction, about $11 at Walmart.

    Any VOA requests?

I'd be curious to see if current Pennzoil Platinum HM still tests with the anemic additive values for boron, zinc and phosphorus the way it did back in 2023.

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

What you shared has no indication of anything IMSA. And on the Mobil 1 Racing oils page, the closest they come to addressing the topic is this part of the Q&A: https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/about-us/mobil-1/mobil-1-racing-and-motorsports/mobil-1-racing-oils#section-title-1-36 I found...

Those are road cars possibly being driven by amateurs for an occasional trackday, not "racecars".

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

No they didn't, the lab they pay for services did. Valvoline doesn't create or produce their own additives. They buy them and blend.

Are these spare tires actually better than the rest?

When I said traditional, I meant "traditional for a donut". The one with the rounded profile that is typical for a temp spare is a Falken, is what I meant.

Back down this road again: 0w-20 Civic 2.0 NA highway commuter car

M1 EP is a fantastic oil. You're already using the extended drain product, in a application that's perfect for it. If I were you, I wouldn't change anything except for considering an increase in interval to 7,500 next time.

Are these spare tires actually better than the rest?

I have to wonder if a reason why most of them are so rounded along the contact surface is because with the tire being so narrow, it won't be able to support load the way a normal sized tire can. So it's going to roll over a lot while cornering, and maybe a more square profile just sees the tread...

What's good, and not so good, in brake pads these days?

Anybody here use Pagid Silver pads? Interesting in trying them, but concerned about potentially losing initial bite compared to the current Raybestos Element 3s. I had Akebonos on this car before too and was not satisfied with how wooden those felt and don't want a repeat.

What's good, and not so good, in brake pads these days?

I've always been surprised by how many people buy those PowerStop brake packages. They always seemed like a crappy gimmick to me.
