Any one have good luck on reman alternator or go with oem

Can you get a new Bosch alternator for it? They have 2 lines; new and rebuilt and I've always bought their new alternators. In fact both my Fords have new Bosch alternators for the last couple of years and they've been great.

    C-Wire for Nest Thermostat

So I went ahead and wired the external adaptor in, which bumped up the LIN reading to 200 mA and everything seemed to be hunky dory until I turned on the AC and it did not run. It appears this unit requires the 24V wire from the transformer to run. I've watched a video about connecting both the...

Part supply issues even with domestics

Nothing surprises me anymore, the world has gone bonkers and you know that's true when you cannot get parts for a Chevrolet. Even Mercedes-Benz, who were able to supply parts for any of their vehicles going way back in time, can no longer supply parts anymore.

How often do you clean/detail your interior?

Once a week I'll use compressed air to blow out hard to reach areas, such as under the seats, vacuum and wipe down the interior. Once every six months, the entire car gets a full details (exterior, undercarriage, wheels, engine bay and interior).

Apparently either SKF doesn't make their Bearings as good as they used to or RockAuto sold me a counterfeit.

Fact of the matter is, automakers rely on the same companies that supply the aftermarket to design and manufacture OE parts, but most aftermarket offerings are built to a price point because Joe Average wants to avoid dropping $$$ on an OE part. Unfortunately, however, many OE parts are also...

How often do you replace brake calipers?

Depends on a variety of factors, including what conditions the vehicle operates in. I still got the factory calipers on my Mitsubishi with 316,000 miles on it.

    Motorcraft XT5QMC alternatives?

Considering ConocoPhillips is Ford's supplier, you may wish to consider Kendall Mercon V since it's the same stuff with a different label on it. Provided you can get it cheaper, of course.

Watched it last week and I loved it. Very patriotic and I can see Naval recruitment going up after this movie. 😁

    Motorcraft XT5QMC alternatives?

Unfortunately, there's only one way prices will go and it's going to be up. You can try Kendall Mercon V, which is basically what Motorcraft is, but I don't know how much cheaper it will be. Then there's Pennzoil, Valvoline, Fram, MAG 1. Luckily, ATF doesn't require changing too often. You...

When to Replace Radiator and Coolant Hoses

While there is no set timeframe of mileage at which your hoses must be replaced, it is a good idea to visually inspect them during routine oil changes or when you're under the hood topping up washer fluid or checking your oil. Although it might be a good idea to replace them when you are due for...

Residual Heat (REST) on MB cars

You're better off just popping the hood IMO. The interior is going to roast in the summer when the car is parked, no matter what you do, and introducing more heat will not do the electronics and plastics, leather, etc. any good.

Air Filter after 2,160 miles in Service

Happens even in big city areas, particularly certain parts of the road such as the center portion. That being said, here's a dashcam screenshot of an actual sandstorm.

    C-Wire for Nest Thermostat

Thank you for all the input! Absolutely, and I agree 100%! But local construction practices are horrible to say the very least, and landlords are worse than most HOAs put together in the U.S. - especially when it comes to doing anything to the property. Since my time here slowly drawing to a...

Safe to use oxalic acid in Ford 4.6?

Get yourself 2 lbs of citric acid powder from the grocery store and dissolve it in 1.5 gallons of warm water. Drain your radiator, pull out your thermostat and with the lower radiator hose disconnected, back flush the system through the thermostat housing with water until it runs clean. With...

    C-Wire for Nest Thermostat

My ancient Honeywell thermostat died on me, and I decided I would get with the times and replace it with a Google Nest Thermostat. I have a York commercial rooftop unit with a single cooling option and three wires, so I installed it according to the configurator in the Nest app: Yellow to Y1...

Air Filter after 2,160 miles in Service

This is a Fram Tough Guard TGA3945 for the 4.2L equipped GMC Envoy that went into service on 01/29/2022 and was replaced yesterday after 2,160 miles. I tend to replace air filters pretty regularly, in this case when the OLM hit 75% and I did a simple drain and refill of the engine oil. You also...
