Article on last military conflict between India and Pakistan

Hello GON, thanks for sharing the article. I don’t know the history of India or Pakistani very well, so this article was a good primer for further research on my part.

    acquisition: 2014 Isuzu D-Max

I would be thrilled to be able to get one myself. Especially with a diesel engine.

Read my plugs? This is too lean, right?

I really like working on cars from the seventies. I never did get the tuning or timing coordination between EGR and ignition advance. I did have a 79 Dodge W150 pickup with a two barrel 318 and the 727 automatic transmission. It was the short wheelbase truck. I did find that it ran much better...

6L90 third gear shift flare solved CTS-V (air from sitting)

Wow! That car sounds really good! Quick too.

    GM 0w-40, Super Tech 0w-40, M1FS 0w-40, and Supercar.

I watched the same video last night. That poor engine must have experienced a flat rate mechanic at least once during its hard life. I didn’t notice any profanity in Eric’s video. He is normally well spoken and doesn’t use bad language. He is one of the most decent shows on YouTube in my...

Major power grid issues in Portugal, Spain and parts of France

Thanks Overkill. This is an interesting topic.

Major power grid issues in Portugal, Spain and parts of France

Overkill, when you discuss frequency, are you talking about the change or deviation from the 50 or 60 Hz? Or, is there a different frequency due to electrical mass in the conductor/power line? I am visualizing something like water-hammering in plumbing pipes at home where one can hear a pipe...

1 Million Mile Tundra - Vic Shepard does 1 Million miles for second time

I definitely prefer reliability and simplicity over high complexity and efficiency. I am finding it easier to put fuel in the tank than diagnosing and repairing things..

    Mixing oil

Sending prayers for you and your wife. The van will be just fine. Oils are generally miscible, especially motor oil. Plenty of cars do quite well even with an intermittent maintenance schedule, especially American cars.

    2006 Highlander 3.3L 3MZ-FE Heavy Sludge

Ray man! That is really impressive in my mind! You may have saved that car from the crusher. Lots of effort on your part and shared the results with us on BITOG. I hope that car serves your friend for a long time. I would like to see how much better it looks in a year or so after driving with...

    Will seafoam save me?

I thought the 318 was worn out in my 79 Dodge pickup because it burned a little oil and leaked a lot. Wow, your 318 has served you well from the looks of it!

    Insane CA DMV Registration Tax

Oh yes! The old smog impact fee! I had to fill out forms to get refunded the $300 smog impact fee for a pickup that I bought locally from a guy who just moved in from Colorado. California did not want to refund the fee, but the courts ruled that the fee was to be refunded. Lots of hoops to jump...

    I found correction valuable too.

    High RPM to Remove Carbon

Italian tuneup for the soul. Yes, some cars cry during the IT, others give a nice growl of satisfaction. If I had the Corvette, the Italian tune up would be compulsory maintenance. My cars seem to complain during the Italian tune up..

    CARQUEST R 85348 CUT OPEN

That filter looks really decent. Looks like the filter media is maximized by plenty of pleats tightly spaced. I think I am going to pick up some Carquest oil filters based on what I am seeing. I have been disappointed by the Wix 51348 and 57712 filters that I have cut open. There is not much...

    Mid life crisis car; Pacifica

I think the Pacifica is a decent looking minivan. Sometimes (when it’s raining) I would like to have a minivan instead of a pickup truck.

A few of my tool box drawers

I still think about Trav’s contributions to the tool thread as well as the other usual suspects. I have been trying to replace cheaper hand tools with high quality ones without the SnapOn tool truck pricing. I always enjoy the tool threads.

Valvoline R&P Oil Burner Test Results

Oh, that makes sense then. My frame of reference has been in San Diego County in California. You are lucky. This is the Costco gas station close to where I used to live. It could be quiet for the first hour and last hour of their operating hours, but this is the usual scene.. <?xml...

Valvoline R&P Oil Burner Test Results

I really don’t understand why folks wait inline to save 10 cents for a gallon of gas. Most Costco gas lines I have seen have huge lines. I guess folks are very price sensitive?
