    "My Pillow"

I bought a Brooklynn Bedding extra firm latex foam pillow; it's 7 inches high! If you want a pillow that doesn't sink in and stays lofty, get firm solid latex foam. Definitely not for everyone though - it's as close as you'll get to comfortably using a brick for a pillow. But that is what's...

Is -25F rated washer fluid good enough?

I'm using that pink Supertech fluid currently. Meh, it's OK. It will clear the windshield but it tends to leave a very fine layer of frost when it's really cold. For the price though, it's good enough.

Bitcoins,,,they are suppose to be the new

Here is a great article about why investing in Bitcoin is very risky. The gist of it: blockchain is here to stay, revolutionary, and in use in many industries including finance not associated with cryptocurrency. But crypto currency as it stands currently is stupid and has no value - you can't...

Road Rage: Flip them off or Yell at them?

Depends on my mood. If I'm chill that day and someone does something stupid near me in traffic, I let it be. If it's an errant violation of the space around my vehicle and done in a rude way, I'll let the other driver know it. It's getting so bad around my area though. 90% of drivers drive...

    Napa/Gates/Dayco Radiator hoses

For some reason, all the aftermarket hoses, from what I can tell, are made for automatic trans equipped Corollas of this vintage - the factory automatic radiators are about a half inch thicker and require a bend in the lower hose to clear the radiator fan motor. My car has a manual trans and...

    Coolant Reservoir Level In Winter

I've noticed this as well; if it's very cold, it will be w little low; once it warms back up into the 50s/60s, it's back to where it should be. Seems logical and normal to me.

    Napa/Gates/Dayco Radiator hoses

Well, the Napa hoses were complete [censored]. Made by gates; the bottom one didn't fit at all - hit the slave cylinder; the factory one is straight, all the aftermarket ones have a weird bend. The top one was 1/2 inch short. Reused the old ones as they are still in good shape. I have no clue...

    Napa/Gates/Dayco Radiator hoses

Yea Trav; we get seriously extreme temperature swings throughout the year. If you installed a regular worm gear clamp in July when it's 95 degrees, come January when it's 10 below, it will be very loose.

    Napa/Gates/Dayco Radiator hoses

I knew you'd say that Chris! I value your opinions, but in my experience, the factory spring clamps are the bomb. They never leak or need re-tightening. I always try and reuse them. Do you have any input on the hoses?

Cooking for 1 cheaper than going out?

How do you spend $12 to $15 on a home cooked meal??? Do you eat beef tenderloin everday??? You can eat healthy, tasty, easy cooked home meals from the grocery store for under $5 all day long if you learn how to cook and shop. Buy meat when it's on sale and freeze it. Cook larger tasty meals in...

    Napa/Gates/Dayco Radiator hoses

I'm in the process of replacing the radiator in my Corolla; top plastic tank got a pinhole leak that turned into a geyser. Went with a Denso replacement. Car has a tick over 200K; the factory radiator hoses still look good but since it will all be apart, I figure I'll do the hoses since I plan...

    GM 3900 engine.

Yup, hate to say it, but the 3500 and 3900 High Value engines are pretty much junk after 100,000 miles IMO; our Impala with the 3500 has also had the oil pan gasket replaced, head gaskets replaced, water crossover gaskets replaced twice (this was the design GM implemented to curtail the previous...

Coolant leak - happy new year to me!

If it's just the clamp leaking, and it's a worm gear clamp, and the hose is still intact (might not be if you've cranked on the clamp trying to get the leak to stop, you should buy a constant tension screw clamp. Napa and Oreilly have them in stock. Problem solved.
