School me on a/c cutoff switches vs low pressure only switch

Seems like you got a bad switch. The specs clearly say "PSI low off 21". Maybe try a NOS GM switch? Looks like the part number is 3041336. Ebay shows a bunch for sale around $50: NOS GM A/C Pressure Switch

What are you working on today?

The missing link to complete the A/C restoration in my '79 came in: the duct running under the driver's feet to the outermost panel vent. Probably got removed over years during various under dash repairs and ended up misplaced. Luckily I was able to source this almost perfect replacement for...

Anyone here had shoulder surgery? Possible torn labrum...

I did! Back in October of '24. Here's a link to the update post: Shoulder update I took 6 weeks off following surgery, then did 3 months of 2x a week PT. I've been back to work since March 1st of this year and feeling great. I get a little stiffness here an there after a long week, but...

Anyone here had shoulder surgery? Possible torn labrum...

I had lots of people tell me to go to PT first, but I knew in my heart that the damage was done even before my MRI. In fact, going just off the MRI they thought my tear was small. Turns out all 3 tears (doc's found more once they got inside) were much more significant than the MRI showed. I...

Anyone here had shoulder surgery? Possible torn labrum...

Best way I found to describe it to people was it felt like having a hot ice pick being jabbed into my shoulder pretty much all the time. It got to the point that I had to walk around with my left hand tucked in my waist band just to relieve the load of my arm off my shoulder.

Mixed 2 Cycle gas in a new vehicle?

If you add the 5 gallons of mix to 30 gallons of fuel in your tank, I can't imagine there being any issues. If anything, the oil will add lubricity which can only be good for things like your fuel injectors.

Low mileage late 2000 Jaguar XJL purchase considered

Way, way, way too much money for a 20 year old British car, regardless of mileage. The suspension bits on those wear out extremely quickly, plan on doing all the control arms before 50k.

What are you working on today?

Drove the '79 to work today and slapped her on the A/C machine (finally). Pulled vacuum for 45 minutes, let it sit for another 30 with zero loss of vacuum, and charged with 3 lbs. of R134a. Initially I had no clutch engagement, but it turned out to be nothing more than a bad ground. The...

HIPA brand oil filter for lawn mowers

For $9 + tax, you'd be better off going to WM and getting a brand name filter.

New to me 5 speed Cobalt coupe

Rust killed all of those up here in the Midwest. The fuel and brake lines are wrapped in foil back near the rear axle, a spot that loved to collect water and salt. For $800, you done good. The 2.2 is bulletproof and if it's free of rust it's definitely worth fixing. The pull is probably just...

What are you working on today?

Mowed the lawn before the rain comes, and afterwards I decided to finally do something about the horrible handlebar position of our little MTD 20 incher. From the factory, the handlebar was positioned in such a way that it ended up barely waist height on my 5'10 frame. I was constantly in a...

What are you working on today?

That's wild... I just did a full deck refurbishment on a Cubby this afternoon at work. LT1050, I believe. It, too, was a complete basket case. How one can mangle a mower so badly in 198 hours is beyond me. Being a JD dealer, I took the easy route and had parts order me a deck rebuilt kit from...

Miata Meets Uncle Rodney - A 2.5L Swap Story

Don't put too much thought into it, you'll be fine. Just make sure that cam holder completely engages the slots in the cams and triple check your crank alignment.

Miata Meets Uncle Rodney - A 2.5L Swap Story

Hope you bought the timing tools! That was the biggest pain I remember from working on those, trying to get that stupid crank pin lined up and everything where it needed to be. Should be a LOT easier with the engine on the stand.

    Cheap garage audio using leftovers

I dig it. That's a lot of beef for a garage system! Since my original post, I've upgraded to a Denon AVR-1612 powering 3x Mirage MX omni-directional satellites mounted upside-down about 15' up the back wall of the shop backed up by a matching MM-6 subwoofer. I think this will be the final...

What are you working on today?

Brought the '95 in for AC surgery. Everything went super smooth: new compressor, new accumulator, new orifice tube and new o-rings on every connection I could reach. Everything was flushed while it was apart so there shouldn't be anything but nice, clean R134 in the system when she's done...

The "What Did You Buy For Your Car/Truck" Thread

New AC Compressor and accumulator arrived yesterday for my '95 Seville, they'll be going in along with a new .062" orifice tube and all new seals after I flush the system out while it's all taken apart. Should be freezing cold once it's all back up and running.

I'm impressed with my car's mpg calculation

My '95 Seville is impressively accurate with both it's MPG and gallons used readout. I reset both at each fill: MPG is within a couple tenths of hand math as is gallons used.
