    Motorcraft Oil Filters

Hey, I was discussing oil filters at another forum and was told Motorcraft filters were the best for my 1999 Dodge Caravan 3.3L The advice was that they were least restrictive while still providing superior filtration. Anyone here wanna confirm that? I can indeed say that the Motorcraft filter...

Home Depot for Auto Parts? Yes.

So, Autozone and the other big name parts stores sell the exact same items but .......to justify the 4 x price hike..... They give you a "Lifetime replacement warranty". So total honesty, at least twice I put the receipt in the box and put the box in the garage on a shelf....a couple years...

Home Depot for Auto Parts? Yes.

For me, HD has been fantasmic. I recently picked up some Penzoil (in store) 10w-40 for $2.00 a quart. I don't care if I only use that Penzoil for lubricating drill bits...that's a BARGAIN ! I know exactly what parts I order so there is never any doubt or confusion. Besides, Im in and out of...

Home Depot for Auto Parts? Yes.

Back in the day when Autozone and Discount Auto etc were just becoming national chains, A LOT of mom and pop auto parts stores were shut down by really sleazy practices that those big ones did...like shopping the mom and pop then giving away the mom and pop staples at their chain store until the...

Home Depot for Auto Parts? Yes.

Lately I've been buying more and more of my auto parts on the home depot website. Most of the time they have the same brand name parts for a LOT LESS than Autozone or even Amazon Just wondering if anyone else has found this?

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

Different strokes for different folks. I've had chevy's, fords, pontiacs, volkswagens, audis, mercedes, Nissans, Toyotas and a few I forget. of all of them I love the caravans the most. Mostly the Grand Caravans especially. 🏁 with the seats out I have 12ft of rain proof cargo space. Put them...

Broken Ring Lands - is it a sure thing they cause low compression?

That's what I read too. This engine has a knock sensor which should retard timing whenever it senses knock so maybe it's not working? No codes on it. Many people buy the cheapest gasoline they can buy. My opinion is this is being penny wise and pound foolish. Eventually you will pay far more...

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

Well, the only cylinder with low compression was No 2. The rest are fine. I also noticed today for the first time that that one cylinder had a new fuel injector installed. The bearings look great and it has 160k miles on the clock. 300k+ on a well maintained 3.8L is common. So, I'm going to...

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

Thanks. Tomorrow I'll get dimensions to see if the cylinder is out of round. (y) I have inside mics for that.

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

The color change is right at the crack. No chunk missing. Everything is there and in place. Just cracked. Fortunately. Ya know, until today that's exactly what I thought. But it seems that's the only cylinder with a problem so I'm gonna assume that injector was not working properly and...

Broken Ring Lands - is it a sure thing they cause low compression?

I've been researching this. Speaking of blow, an injector that is not putting out properly seems to be a common problem. I might replace this injector while im at it.

Broken Ring Lands - is it a sure thing they cause low compression?

Google searches reveal conflicting opinions. In a scenario where inspection reveals no other cause for loss of compression, would (or do) broken ring lands necessarily cause low compression? Now this might depend on the engine, the severity of the crack etc. For example, has the ring land...

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

Well guys, I THINK I finally found the problem. Let me show you a few pictures. Tell me if this is it or not :) No broken or stuck rings.....but broken RING LANDS between the rings. <scratches my head> so will this cause catastrophic compression loss ? ;-) What likely caused this? No...

Dodge Grand Caravan 1999 - 3.8L low compression on one cylinder

I do and I will. On this engine the leak was 85% I was expecting to find a nice hole in the piston. Just for the sake of knowledge...... If you remove the rocker shaft, what difference does it make where the piston is in the cylinder?

Like it had been misfiring but not wet or oily. Not too bad.
