+4 on the Coolant Temp Sensor. Had similar experience with wild temp swings indicated on the Temp Gauge on a GM 3.9L V6. Replacing the CTS resolved it. I think I paid less then $20 with shipping for a Delphi CTS from Rock Auto so fairly inexpensive to try.

The first thing that came to my mind when I read your post was Mobil 1 15w-50 however I do not know what it's current zinc levels are. Never used them but Amnsoil ZROD (10w-30 and 20w-50) and Amsoil Premium Protection (10w-40 and 20w-50) both claim high levels of zinc and for flat tappet cams.

If shopping Wal-Mart for 5w-20 I would probably switch to Castrol Magnetec. QSUD would be next choice.

Put a set of Kumho TA11 225/60r17 tires on wife's 2007 Saturn Relay this past Monday so only had them a week but so far very satisfied. Smooth comfortable ride and tracks well. Only dry weather so far so cannot comment on wet weather or snow conditions.
