Federal Incomes Taxes- standard or itemized deductions

I have taken the standard deduction for years. I paid my house off in 2013, so I don't have enough itemized deductions that exceed the standard deduction.

Video on not taking social security at age 65

I retired 7 1/2 years ago at age 50 with a full pension, health insurance, and a decent sized TSP that has more than doubled since I retired. I'm also debt free. I planned for retirement the day I started my career at age 24. I'm still taking SS at age 62 even though I won't need it to live...

    Weapon Shield Is Back!

I just use the Lucas Extreme duty gun oil these days and have for quite a few years. I also have some of the Wilson's ultima-lube that I bought in the 90's in the bottle and in a grease form in a syringe.

What are you working on today?

Went over to my fiancé's dad's house to help them bleed the brakes on his brother's 2012 Jeep Liberty. The had replaced pads and rotors on the front yesterday but couldn't seem to get the brakes bled so that the peddle felt good even though they didn't see anymore air come out of the bleeder...

    Car sputtering, engine light flashing

You are welcome. One of the shops may have cleared the codes and is why there was no CEL initially and it didn't come back until you did enough drive cycles to set the code again. Hopefully this new shop has a smoke machine. Some shops will use propane around suspected areas and monitor fuel...

Picked up a bidirectional scan tool

Dot 3 and 4 are compatible so there are no worries about leftover Dot 3 in the ABS. I would remove as much fluid out of the master cylinder without running it dry and then add your new fluid and then bleed all four corners to flush the old fluid out.

    Connector pliers

I also have the Merry ones too and they work very well. I just bought the Lisle one like it because I like tools. LOL.

Picked up a bidirectional scan tool

I think you are way overthinking this brake job. I've been doing my own brake jobs for probably 30 years and never do most of what you are planning on doing. First of all, a KDS scanner is Kia's factory scan tool, and you don't need it to bleed the ABS system. A lot of aftermarket higher end...

Selling my Scion after only a year. Clutch pedal Pain.

This is exactly one of the big reasons that I didn't buy a manual when shopping for new Mustang GT back in the day and is why I got an automatic when I bought my 2014 Mustang GT. I had a left knee surgery years ago and still have problems with it when using a clutch too much. My fiancée's...

Please help. Melted drive belt onto pulleys

I have always just used a 90-degree pick and turn each pully as I clean each groove. It can be time consuming, but it has to be done. I just watched an old South Main Auto video where he had to do the exact same thing on a Dodge van that came in with a seized alternator that melted and broke...

    Launch Creader 2.0 scan-tool from kingbolen.com

My Thinktool Pros came from Kingbolen and I've had no issues with them. I bought the tool in 2021 and have had them also give me the updates after the free ones ran out.

    Car sputtering, engine light flashing

The P0171 is indicating a lean condition and should be dealt with. What were your instructions to this new mechanic when you dropped it off? Only to get it running? One good way to determine if a lean condition is caused by a vacuum leak is to monitor fuel trims and rev the engine to 2,000...

    Connector pliers

I have used those exact ones recently on the connector for the fuel filter line on a 2007 Mustang GT. They worked very well. I also have the other two Lisle connector pliers listed on that same Amazon link and have used both on various connectors.

    mystery misfire issue?

A pressure transducer and a scope would be your best bet to test cylinder 3 but you may not have access to either.

1990 Dodge, How to determine failure of MAP sensor, IAC, TPS or vehicle speed sensor???

I'm not sure on that year of vehicle but no CEL with key on, engine off or initial cranking can indicate an ECM problem. I would definitely check to see if the light is burned out and if not, you will have to figure out why it's not coming on.

    New tool thread

I took advantage of Harbor Freights 1 day flash sale on their Quinn digital torque wrenches. I bought the 1/2" and the 3/8" ones. 40% off. I saved $140 on both of them. https://www.harborfreight.com/flash-deal

    Autel 808btpro

Yes, I have heard that. I think it has something to do with Snap On suing them for stealing information. The only Autel based scanner I have is the Otofix D1 and while it gives a lot of information, it is slow on both using it on vehicles and super slow to update. Updates also drain the...

    Autel 808btpro

I own three scanners that require yearly fees once the free update period is over. On two of them, I'm still in the free two-year period. The end of last year was my second time renewing my Thinktool Pros. I bought it new in 2021. I pay the renewal fee because I want my scanner to be as up...

What are you working on today?

I think I have watched this video in the past. I have watched most of his YT videos and a bunch on his premium channel. My car runs fine. I just want to fix the issue in case my CEL does come on in the future.

What are you working on today?

Tried diagnosing why none of my scanners will not communicate with the ECM on my 1992 Cavalier. Recently my ABS light came on after a very hard stop. Initially the light would go out the longer you drove. For about a week, you could hear the ABS pump cycle under the hood and the light would...
