    21 5.7 Hemi; Valvoline EP 5w-20 3k mi

Hopefully you're on the right track. I just posted a UOA on my 2016 and it has really been liking Mobil 1 5w-30.. 2.94ppm FE per 1k miles on a 6600mi change.

    2016 Ram 1500 5.7 69.7k mi; Mobil 1 5w-30 6.5k mi

4th analysis on my 2016 Ram. Interestingly this one probably had the highest percentage of towing miles and had the lowest wear metals so far. I've got one more change worth of Mobil 1 5w-30, not sure if I'll experiment with 0w-40 in the future or not. What do you all think? Worth noting filter...

Anyone Here Own A Dueling Tree ?

I have a silhouette that has one of those on the top that swings to either side of the head. I forget the thickness but its rated for 30-06 at 100yds. Its a lot of fun and I'll be getting one of the tree's in the near future. A .22 won't budge mine but a 9mm will move it with authority. just hit...

Brake lines for a old truck?

I just did brake lines for the first time using this tool: https://www.amazon.com/Capri-Tools-Double-Flaring-CP21110-316/dp/B0859QMSNX and line from these folks...

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

I got my Mazda 3 from an incredibly shady little car lot near the auto auction in ATL. Place didn't even wash/clean them from auction. Just moved them as is.. haha

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

I did mine from the bottom as well. Wasn't that bad.

    Most reliable used simple/basic vehicle

My 07 Mazda 3 does that for me… paid $3k in 2018, have put a clutch, thermostat and cv axle in it over the last 7 years and kept 50k miles off my truck. Great little car and fun with the 5 spd

When to do first ATF drain/fill?

Personally I’ve never done one before 60k. 15k is definitely overkill but it won’t hurt anything if it makes you feel better.

Finally changed the ATF on my 2016 Ram 1500 ZF 8 speed

I think the PPE pan has the drain bolt in a different location which would be reason enough to use it on my 4wd Hemi truck.. Sucking the fluid out works fine other than there is a gush of fluid when you remove the fill bolt. There was very little fluid left in the pan after I used the extractor.

    My new Murray push mower

Nice Mower. I picked one off the curb with a similar engine several years ago and fixed it up/sold it. The carb was plastic and was less than $15 on amazon. They start easy and seem to run well. Do what you want on the oil front, in my experience as long as they're full of something slippery...

    Gas trimmer purchase?

I'm a fan of Echo myself. I have this trimmer/brush cutter and it will do some serious work. Saplings up to 3-4in are no issue with the blade installed. https://www.echo-usa.com/trimmers-brushcutters/srm-3020u I have a 12yo husqvarna string trimmer I use at the house and it has been very...

    Change ATF at 60,000 miles?

I just changed mine at 70k. Its doable but not fun IMO. My post is here: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/finally-changed-the-atf-on-my-2016-ram-1500-zf-8-speed.395963/ Here's another recent post...

Mower Safety while cleaning mower deck

On a mower with a working safety bar? I should have noted earlier that I do tend to pull the plug wire on push mowers. I was thinking of his rider mainly.

Mower Safety while cleaning mower deck

Is it the right thing? Per the textbook yes it is.. Have I ever pulled a plug wire to swap a lawn mower blade? No.. There are a variety of redundant safety's that would all have to fail for the engine to miraculously start with blade movement.. On a rider you'd have to have the PTO engaged for...

    What good store brand alternator

I've only had one issue and I've used a few very cheap warehouse deal alternators.. The one was made wrong and the plugs were all clocked the wrong way and I can see why the first guy returned it..

    What good store brand alternator

I go with the one on amazon with the most good reviews myself..

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission fluid

I just finished using the ZF fluid and a Dorman pan on my truck and no leaks so far.. I sort of wish I'd sprung for the PPE pan, but everything seems to be fine so far.. One of the magnets was broken on the Dorman pan so I reused one from the OE pan. Also make sure you torque the drain plug on...

    CRV engine noise

Possible the bendix didn't fully retract on the starter? That would cause quite a racket and maybe the next restart it retracted fully..
