It turns out it was a part of the towbar wiring. And how on earth this car hasn't suffered from serious electrical issues or a fire from this is quite surprising. Who needs a fuse anyway? Just tap straight out the fusebox... It gets worse, I promise! Look at this mess... Ignoring the fact...

    '08 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD

Started the clean up earlier. Wet vac'd out as much water as possible and threw a dehumidifier in there. Guess I was a little premature with the dehumidifier because a few hours later it looked like this... I've wet vac'd it out again, but I think I'm going to need some small heaters in...

    Speeding ticket

I need to move to the US. Sounds like total bliss! There's no official buffer here, although I think all fixed and mobile speed cameras operate at around 10% plus 2-4mph depending on the local enforcement. A police officer can pull you over and issue you a ticket for 1mph though. Most of our...

Not the next update I was hoping for, but my Wife came out of work to the car like this… Quite a bit of water has found its way inside the car, luckily it’s limited to footwells. I’ll wet vac it first thing in the morning and get a heater in there for the day. Luckily we have some sun...

Did all P2 XC70's suffer from valvebody problems?

I just had a quick look and found new valve bodies easily available. Some as cheap as £40 on AliExpress. Would you trust a valve body from AliExpress? Not sure. I'd consider that DIY-able. Maybe not as simple as I remembered.

Did all P2 XC70's suffer from valvebody problems?

My Wife had a 2007 Saab 95 with the AW50-55 that had the occasional light shift flare which I believe was down to a tired valve body. That said, they've been around long enough now that there's how-to guides everywhere and I think it would be something I'd be comfortable DIY-ing.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan - Replacing Instrument Cluster Backlighting Bulbs

Stolen cars used to gain access to houses or commercial buildings by literally ramming into them with the intention to steal. I have pictures of the car afterwards somewhere. I'll have a look on my one-drive and see if I can find them.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan - Replacing Instrument Cluster Backlighting Bulbs

That instrument cluster brought back some memories. Back in 2002 my parents bought a brand new Chrysler Neon R/T with the 2.0 N/A 4 pot. I think we only had it 4 months before it got stolen and written off in a ram-raid. I'm 99% sure it had that instrument cluster! I would have only been 9 at...

Teslas unusable for Law Enforcement Cali

First car it mentions... Vauxhall Vectra? They haven't made them in 16 years! :ROFLMAO:

    MG HS

Consider this, think how thick oil is when it's cold. If it couldn't 'fit' between parts within an engine, then every engine would seize when it was cold. Also, the '5w' or '10w' is the winter rating and has little to do with the hot viscosity of the oil.

    2013 Volvo XC60

Aisin TF80SC. Usually pretty stout and give very little issues providing it gets regular fluid changes. That said, our '08 XC70 is on 148k with the same gearbox and no history of fluid changes and she still shifts perfectly.

Teslas unusable for Law Enforcement Cali

In the UK it's not unusual for regular police offers to use Ford Fiestas and Vauxhall Corsas. Not sure I buy the space issue myself.

    '08 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD

I did consider trying to remove the filter from the reservoir and installing an inline filter. May revisit this. Once the system is clean and a new pump is installed then I'll probably dose it with Forte Power Steering Treatment to help condition any seals in the rack etc. I've had good luck...

    '08 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD

Well two days later and the PAS fluid looks like this again. I think the sludge I found in the reservoir is present throughout the system and the new fluid is cleaning it up. I'm a week or two away from replacing the PAS pump, so I think I'll go buy another litre or two of fluid and just do...

Lucas Points, Triumph TR6, Aftermarket Parts Quality Strikes Again....

Parts for the Defender are exactly the same. I replaced the entire windscreen wiper mechanisms (cables and spindles) around 18 months ago and they're shot already. Power steering pump was replaced with a Bosch unit 2 years ago and that's failed. Rocker cover gaskets only seem to last a year...

    Using non-fancy Motor oils.

Well considering they’re also SCT lubricants like Mannol, quite a lot. I was like you, thinking that cause they have the approval all will be well. But when you see the other nonsense they’ve pulled you start to wonder how much you can actually trust the approval. Is the lubricant you’re...

Bucket list car (for the commoner)

Ours has a plastic undertray. Pretty sure the T6 has an engine cover too, our D5 does.

    Updated M1 FS 0w-40 - More PAO

Annoyingly, my Father sent it in to the mechanic he uses (who I think is an absolute hack but that's another debate) for a clutch change with a leaky rear main and he never changed it! Pulling the gearbox isn't that-bad of a job really. I'd rather do it on the Defender than most FWD cars...

Bucket list car (for the commoner)

Just checked and yours will have generation 5 Haldex that just needs the fluid changing. It can be done with everything in place. Don't know the answer to your second question but it's probably worth getting VIDA anyway. I managed to pick up a clone tool and a hard drive with VIDA preinstalled...

Bucket list car (for the commoner)

I think yours may have the later Haldex which is easy to service and doesn't have a filter. Ours needs the exhaust, propshaft and input flange removed. Wish we could find or justify the T6, but our D5 does the job quite nicely.
