    Toilet flap

I've never had to replace a flapper in 45 years. I did get a new toilet 10 years ago or so. Softened well water though. No chlorine. I do run some iron out in the tank once a year or so to get rid of the red slime.

At what temp will an engine with water freeze?

What's the wind like? If no wind I would chance it. But if it's windy it will quickly cool things down to air temp.

    Trouble bleeding brakes

I've heard of the full use of the master cylinder stroke may cause problems if it has never gone there before. I like to have the engine running especially for the rears to get the use of the power assist. Open the bleeder, hook up a hose and pump a few strokes not worrying about closing the...

    Aftermarket Catalytic Converters

I use Torque and watch the fuel trims on #1 but voltage on #2, assuming there is a #2 and if there isn't then I'm watch the temperature on #1. Fuel trims on the Genesis Coupe are really boring as they are generally around +-1. Voltage on the second O2 will tell you how well the cat is doing...

    Lowering antenna tower

So figured out the rope I was going to use was neither long enough at 100ft or load rated (only 120#!). Got out a real of 3/16" 7 strand steel cable. Had about 150 ft so just ran it all out. But then it got fouled on my old wooden 1" rope pulley. Too much slop for the small cable. Got two...

    Aftermarket Catalytic Converters

IDK. Mine was not CA legal and made in Canada is about all I can say. I couldn't be happier. Be sure your post cat O2 is good and preferably OE. I look at the post cat O2 sensor O2 voltage to see if things are running good. Should be above .550v minimum and fairly steady when cruising.

    Aftermarket Catalytic Converters

I've had a eBay one on my Accent for the last 4 years now. Keeps the light off. $120 IIRC. And was easy to change too.

    Latest crawlspace upgrade

My crawl space usually stays below 65F in the summer. May get down to the lower 40Fs if it gets cold and windy enough outside. So bring in +80F air it had better be low humidity, which usually isn't the case. The house is65 years old but still standing. Look out for termites. It has redwood...

    Latest crawlspace upgrade

I had some new neighbors who bought 2 acers south of me. It's the highest spot around here but still the water will rise in the soil and fill in the low spots. They wanted to put in a deep crawl space and put all the HVAC and water softener down there. All the new houses on my side of the...

    Latest crawlspace upgrade

My crawl space is dirt with a two layers of poly. But the water table is so high here the dirt under the house stays wet. It has a drain too. But as the river comes up the water comes up in the crawlspace through the dirt first. It has a couple of vents, I have power ventilation but it's...

What are you doing right now?

I had it down once about 20 years ago. Used a 1/2 ton electric winch but had a bad angle. So once it hit 45* going down it spun the winch reel. Pulling it up once it hit 45* it stopped. Had to use a tractor bucket to get it over the hill. This time I have two pulleys. But no help showed up...

What are you doing right now?

Working on my antenna tower lowering project. All set with 150 ft of steel 3/16" cable and two pulleys for added entertainment. Plan on using the old JD F510 mower to do the work and a floor jack to get it started. Probably wait until I get some moral support to watch for cable fouling to...

How can you possibly trust your tire gauge?

Like any other measuring device, it's not so much the accuracy of the reading as is the consistency of the reading. I start out at the manufactures recommended reading using the gauge and then watch for tire wear or other performance issues and adjust.

BTW they sure did tone down that Hurricane they had up to 180mph cat 6 ........ if they can spin them up they can slow them down. Maybe you should watch some unfilter top of the line radar if you offer your expert advice.

Is the only thing in those radar domes a measly 1500w microwave??????? Is 1500w really good for a 150m radius? They heat up the cloud tops. Have you looked into any of this? I see it on the radar screens when they shoot at my direction out of Iowa. Straight line of sight and quite obvious...

What are you doing right now?

Was starting in on the brakes on the old Accent and found a bad right axel right off the bat. Still the original at 191k miles. I've had a wobble on the right side when going hard into a left hand turn. Detroit Axel on eBay for $80 and lifetime guarantee. I don't think there is much life...
