Bought this vehicle used with ~112k on it. Last time i changed the oil i took a sample and the way the filter went into the cartridge housing struck me as odd so i looked the procedure up. The filter was supposed to snap into place but that clearly wasnt an option for what i was looking at...

Ive been running Rotella T6 in my e36 1997 m3 for a number of years but now have a newer 06 330i that i run Castrol 0W40 in for the LL01 certification. I'd like to run the same oil in both cars to make things easier. How do you guys think the Castrol 0w40 would do a in a e36 engine at the track...

The car has a electronic dip stick so thats how i know when to add. It gets driven primarily on the highway for a least 25miles at a time so I'd be surprised if there was much water in the oil. When i say a quart more i think it went from 1.5 to 2.5quarts over 10k miles. Still plenty...
