    Lexus GDI V6 recommendations

It’s funny, I did consider running the Mobil1 0W40 FS in this thing. Always wanted to try the ESP but locally it’s usually $10+ bucks a quart where I am. Little did I realize I could get this deal at my local Autozone right down the street (thanks to this thread). I like the MB/Porsche...

    Lexus GDI V6 recommendations

Yeah, I figured I wouldn’t receive any added benefit, but with a starting oxidation level at 31 I figure it has esters and PAO in it (and I’m a sucker for that). I just bought some at Autozone, two jugs and two filters for $71 bucks. I look at that as a bargain…under $6 bucks a quart. Would...

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

2016 Toyota Avalon 140,000 miles. 10,000 miles on Amsoil Signature Series 5W30. This is my 4th 10,000 mile interval on this car in row. Might keep the Amsoil in there till 15,000 miles. Very little makeup oil (filter changed at 6,000).

    Lexus GDI V6 recommendations

This is why I love this site! I’ve wanted to try the Mobil1 ESP but didn’t realize I could buy it at Autozone at $37 bucks for 5 quarts with a filter. That’s a lot better than the $10 dollar per quart prices I was seeing at Walmart. When including the filter it’s really comes out around to $5.50...

PUP 5W30 quieted Toyota 2.5L startup rattle completely

A couple things to maybe consider…where do you live and how are the temperatures there right now? Have the temperatures gone up recently? I find that as soon as the weather starts to get a little warmer, little things change in my engines. Fuel economy goes up noticeably, and oil usage goes...

Kirkland Synthetic vs. Valvoline Advanced Synthetic - 5w30 - Ford EB 2.0

I think you’re going to do really great with that oil longterm (extended interval, don’t ever drain it).

2.0 Civic: Extended Protection oils in 0W-20

I’ve used both Mobil1 EP and Mobil1 AFE for 10,000 mile intervals in my Toyota with great results. Seeing as how your Civic is non direct injected (like my Toyota), it’s probably easier on oil than most with the right driving conditions. The Mobil1 should handle it well. I’ve also used Amsoil...

Castrol EDGE EP 20K Synthetic Oil Users ?

I haven’t seen this oil on the shelves anywhere in a year…not Walmart, Autozone, Carquest. Nothing. Used to see it at Walmart all the time. Thought they discontinued it but it’s still on their website.

    Buick LeSabre 315 K best oil/filter? A recent acquisition

Those things will run on just about any oil and filter, and run well. That’s one of the best engines GM has ever built. And that elbow that breaks, it’s not a bad job to do (if you have any experience working on cars). The belt comes off, then the alternator, power steering pump, then the...

Why/ why not run oil level at MIN?

I just don’t think the extra (whatever amount of time) an engine with less oil takes to heat up compared to an engine with proper oil level does, is worth much of anything. Much less the risk of carrying less oil that would have to in theory work harder than an engine with more oil, in terms of...

    Pet peeve!! MOBIL not MOBILE

Roll Tide is Mobile’s new oil, offering 40% PAO and 3.5 HTHS in a 0W20 extended performance package.

API ratings in relation to Dexos2?

If the LSPI is your concern then I would keep with the GF6A license with the lower calcium. However no one really knows for certain exactly how the phenomenon of LSPI occurs. The thought process is soot will build up on the piston, and or ring packs - the soot will act like sponge, absorbing...

Please help me understand Extended Oil Drain motor oils

It’s depends on your engine, know your engine. Do your research, own it for a while, monitor things. How’s it going? Do you consume oil? Do you have fuel dilution? Misfires? Whatever? Maybe experiment a little bit, bring the interval out. It’s up to you, but you know your engine after a...

Engine Oil Recommendation 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 3.5L V6

I’m considering doing the same in my 2GRFE, but I’m a little hesitant because mine is spec’d for 0W20, which I’ve since changed out to 5W30…not sure I should bump it up the M1 0W40 FS, but it is almost a 30wt anyway. I do 10,000 mile intervals, currently running Amsoil Signature Series 5W30.

Amsoil TEOST 33C - High Mileage Comparison

So does that mean 0W20 Mobil1 high mileage and Valvoline high mileage synthetic do NOT meet ISLAC GF6 (a) licensing and approvals? If they’re above the thresholds of a test?

    Mobil 1 success

That clear bottle was the best thing I’ve ever seen in motor oil, shame they got rid of it…heard it was because of the discrepancies of the color of the oil from batch to batch. Something like that…and that makes sense. Could you imagine the internet hyperbole of people posting photos of the...

    Mobil 1 success

I must be in the minority here, I actually find Mobil1’s advertising/marketing to be kind of boring. The bottle seemingly never changes. Once in while they might shade it a different hue…maybe darker around labeling, sometimes a greenish tint, once in a while a gold, but it’s always the same...

    Older car daily drivers

Forgot this thread existed…an update…still driving the 2016 Avalon daily, usually 500 miles a week. At 139,000 miles now, not one single issue. Nothing. Just fluid changes, brake and tires. Unreal. I undercoat it myself once or twice a year (Fluid Film or NH Oil Undercoating). I try to keep it...

Mobil 1 5W30 EP Ability to Reduce Wear ?

I look at it this way, if Mobil 1 makes good oils (and they do), and if they claim that one of their oils can go 20,000 miles “guaranteed”, then that has to be their best oil…something they do to it (base stocks, additives, whatever), has to make it better than their other oils. Because to have...

Anyone Else "Oil Flush" When Doing an OC?

I wouldn’t bother doing it, but it will get some old oil out…this is an oil site, a site where about 95% of the topics are considered mundane, a waste of time, or “you should have used the search function”, or “if it has the certifications and approvals, you’re overthinking it”. But some...
