CAR and DRIVER : 2024 FORD Maverick hybrid long term ...

I think they are up in Michigan where it's pretty cold in the winter. My Accord Hybrid hates the cold; my Prius doesn't mind as much. (Li-ion vs NiMH?) I have been a fan of the Maverick since it came out. I could see getting one as my next car.

First car for son: 3800 Buick vs Crown Vic vs Camry 2.2L....need advice

My kids drove around a lot in my manual Ranger. At least it is incredibly slow, but maybe not a real safe vehicle. Safer than what I learned on, I'm sure. Ironically, I had to replace the clutch this last winter, at 315k miles... They didn't kill the clutch; the slave cylinder started leaking!

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

The use of "BREAKING" is humor, suggesting that C&D picking an Accord first (yet again) is some kind of newsflash.

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

What exactly are you asking me? I think hybrid technology is pretty interesting. These cars use different technology and drive differently. They get similar mpg, but not the same, and are close but not quite equal in acceleration. If you are asking me to weigh in on what a supposed typical...

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

[The Accord's] powertrain refinement stands head and shoulders above the other two cars'. Its four-cylinder whispers distantly as the revs rise and fall between the barely noticeable faux shifts programmed into its hybrid system. As with the Camry, the instant torque supplied by the electric...

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

Honda's head gasket woes would take it down a notch or two in my book, but I don't think C&D weighs potential long-term reliability very heavily.

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

Last summer I was driving a car with a black leather interior and no tint - I was wishing I was driving a refrigerator! 🥵

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

I think it's an interesting question. When a Honda is running in "hybrid drive" mode, the gas engine powers a generator and the electricity from the generator drives the wheels. BUT there is an efficiency penalty in converting the power between the modes, so going to "engine drive" - where the...

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

One is a parallel hybrid with a traditional 6-speed automatic. One switches from series hybrid to parallel hybrid at cruising speed and has a single overdrive gear. The other uses the Toyota style power split that is sort of both a series and a parallel, at the same time, in differing proportions.

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

Well, the Camry is "all-new" for the 2025 model year so the Accord is old in comparison. And the Sonata is really old but was facelifted for the 2024 model year.

First car for son: 3800 Buick vs Crown Vic vs Camry 2.2L....need advice

A TWELVE GRAND MARQUIS! All of these cars are kind of grim to me. What does the kid want to drive - you said he's going to be paying for it, eventually..?

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

One person's bland is another person's classy and understated. I like the Accord's looks best out of the bunch. One thing about the test is they did it in cold weather and all the hybrids got poor mileage compared to their EPA ratings.

BREAKING: C&D picks Accord over Camry and Sonata in battle of hybrid sedans

Fresh from the March/April 2025 edition, a new comparo pits mid-size hybrid sedans against each other and the aging Accord pulls out a shocking W! https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a63755420/2025-mid-size-hybrid-sedan-comparison/ Interesting to see these three widely...

    Ford Escape w/6F35 transmission issues

Here is a thread about the Sonnax Zip Kit which a person installed in a 2014 Fusion with 6F35: http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=6530 Summary: the Zip Kit didn't help and Sonnax later said it wasn't applicable to the 1st generation 6F35. The 6F35 clearly has some problems but in my...

If you could change one thing on your daily driver what would it be?

I wish my HAH Touring had the heated steering wheel (not enough to buy a new steering wheel though). I REALLY wish it had fewer miles, but it would have been much more expensive!

    Thoughts on these "resurfaced" Rotors

It's wild to me that a Prius would wear out the pads before needing rotor replacement. Guess it's that California weather keeping the rust away. My Prius had rust areas on the outer and inner edge bands of the rotor friction surface.
