NHTSA opens probe into more than 2 million Honda vehicles over engine restarting concerns

We have my mom's 2016 Pilot and it has had this issue a couple of times. Hasn't happened to me, but basically, you try to go and the engine fails to start, and now you're in gear with a dead engine, so you have to remember to put it in park, then try to restart. Very stressful according to those...

    Previous owner poor MPG

Average on fuelly is 41.6, which is just about what I've gotten over the last 1500 miles (actual mpg seems to run 1.2-1.5 mpg higher than the display). I got a bunch of mid 30s tanks in the winter...

Oil Change Intervals 3k vs Longer with full synthetic

My driving is not severe. Lots of highway cruising, just a little over the speed limit. I guess that's why the maintenance monitor recommends such long intervals for me.

    Previous owner poor MPG

I just ran across this photo from the ad for the car. It has a couple of odd things: 1. The battery shows fully charged. I don't know that I've ever seen my battery fully charged in the time I've owned the car. 2. It looks like it's showing 40.5 mpg over the last 2537.6 miles on Trip B. But -...

How come i can always fix everyone else's problems, but anything of my own is a nightmare?

Be glad it's not the other way around, and try to keep it that way.

Michelin Guardian wiper blades at Costco?

I HATED the old hybrid design. They were the only bad wipers I've ever had. Now I just grab $5 beam wipers from Rockauto from whichever warehouse has the rest of my order.

How many miles do you get before you have trouble passing emissions?

All the cars I've bought in the last few years have gone way past that. P0420 at 200k+ is not too uncommon and it is expensive to fix it correctly.

    Cooling the turbocharger

Looks like this is just the Demon. Here's an article: https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-technology/a10362887/dodge-demon-air-conditioning-power-tech/ This is called an "interchiller" and can be found aftermarket. I'm thinking this is what the OP was remembering. It's cooling the intake...

My findings with AISIN timing belt and replacement saga

I've done three J35s with Aisin kits, haven't noticed the troublesome noise. Then again, I like to listen to Jimmy Dale Gilmore, so maybe I just like warbling.

Should I get a Extended Warranty?

The old sock (NSYE:SOCK) has been handily outperforming the S&P500 for the last month or so (thatsthejoke.gif)

Newer engine longevity designs are in question in this video, is he right?

I'm not going to listen to a half an hour of rambling / rant. There have been excellent engines and flawed engines throughout history. Some have been both. I replaced head gaskets on a 3.8 Essex... There have been guys ranting about how "cars these days are disposable" since before I began...

Should I get a Extended Warranty?

It was a joke because the market is dropping fast. Investing short-term money in stocks is pretty iffy, as the current dip (crash?) shows. It's quite possible we come roaring back out of this and you'd make out like a bandit... or not

    Honda parts site recommendation

Do any of them have a good price for shipping? Always seems like shipping is more that it should be.

Should I get a Extended Warranty?

Put the $100 a month in the S&P500! in three years, you'll have $1500 for whatever problems you might have! Anyway, I believe you "should" only insure against losses that you are unable to afford (would be life-altering). Unless you think you know the odds better than the "house"... do you...
