Busted plastic - baseball bat damage

Grab one at a self serve junkyard, probably cheaper and easier than most of the suggestions

Is there a safe floor jack lifespan?

I have tossed a couple of jacks that quit working, but the truth is, they probably just needed to be bled. If you know how to bleed them, you can keep a jack working for a long, long time. I don't know about bottle jacks, though.

Considering a 2000 Ford Focus SE wagon as a beater

Condition is key at this price range. Looks good to me!

    Low Tension Piston Rings

I don't agree with all the forum rules, but I sure do agree with that one.

Wheel bearing "slight" noise by hand

Best trick I know is to feel the spring for vibrations while you spin the hub. Good luck, in my experience a bearing may be irritating to drive on but seem pretty good when you have the wheels off.

    Do engines get fatigue wear?

I don't believe in the endurance limit... https://www.geartechnology.com/the-fatigue-endurance-limit-a-myth We have enough experience with engines with high miles to see how they eventually fail. Typically they need rebuilding due to wear before a fatigue fracture.

Why are vinyl seats no longer an option?

On our Odyssey, the side panels of the leather seats were fake and after many years, the top layer peeled off the substrate, and then they looked awful.

Did you vacuum the system first?

2005 Focus AC confusing pressures. Not working.

What's your ambient temp? AC systems can be a little goofy when it's cold. Otherwise, I think you have a leak. Do you have UV in the system and have you looked for a leak?

2015 Subaru 2.0 Head Gasket Failure at 136K Miles

Regarding head gaskets and old American vehicles, I had a 2000 Thunderbird (Essex 3.8) that I replaced them on around 100k - very common issue with that motor. I think my BIL told me he did head gaskets on his 98 Ranger with a Vulcan, although if I remember right he had a Thunderbird before that...

    Merkur XR4Ti

Michelin TRX from the early 80's... quite a few Fords had them, but I don't know about the Merkur: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelin_TRX

    Merkur XR4Ti

How were you involved with the Lima? I have a 2.3 in my Ranger and I'm pretty positive on it. 315k miles, seems to run fine with minimal oil consumption and the engine is clean as a whistle inside.

"You don't see those on the road much anymore"

Recently, I've been browsing a lot of automotive forums and several times seen threads where this statement, "You don't see many of those on the road anymore" is used to argue that a particular model of car has questionable reliability. This is about the worst argument for reliability you can...

    Ford 6F35 Transmission Failure

Get on priuschat.com and post that you are looking at a 2010 to buy and everyone will tell you the head gasket/ brake actuator/ battery is a ticking time bomb about to blow up your budget! It's odd. Every other car forum, even unreliable stuff like Rx-7s, will say "well if you maintain it...

Miata Meets Uncle Rodney - A 2.5L Swap Story

Had a Fusion with 175k with that engine... seemed to be very clean inside, used no oil and ran great. It's on my "good engine" list.

Who here uses a torque wrench on the cv axle nut?

On Volvos, there is a problem of axles clicking if you don't get the axle BOLT tight enough.
