    Harbor Freight trailer experience ?

The Harbor Freight trailers are flimsy. I have a Tractor Supply 5x8 with the 13" wheels that I use for most of my stuff and it works awesome. Pulls well on the interstate as well.

Tire options. What would you go for?

Continental DWS06 or Generals GMAX AS07 are IMO the best value. I have experience with both and would buy them again if I had a vehicle that needed that type of tire.

2-3 year old gas safe to use in Ariens Tecumseh engined snow blower?

I wouldn't. Even ethanol free fuel can go stale over time.

    Stihl silliness

Many manufacturers do this because they want you to buy the larger more expensive case. I do want pics of the Kubota in your signature though, I own a 2014 B2620. ;)

These 10 year old tires look pretty good I think - Opinions?

+1 Last year I had a young coworker who passed away because she had a blowout in a rear tire, causing her to lose control at highway speeds and hit a semi parked on the side of the road. If my tires are over 5-6 years old and show signs of cracking I replace them, I certainly wouldn't run 10...

    Lawn Mower Lift

Normally I'd agree but some riding mowers have quite the confusing setup of pins and lift arms holding the deck. Others are pretty simple. I've had customers bring me riding mowers with separated decks and a handful of pins and brackets they couldn't figure out. Most of these mower lifts work...

Roman from TFLEV has a meltdown trying to road trip their new VW I.D. Buzz

Charging issues aside I do think it is a cool vehicle.

high zddp in small engine oil?

A Jeep 4.0L engine that has been bored out to a 4.6L stroker with an aggressive cam and heavy duty valve springs would be an example of a flat tappet engine with higher valve spring pressure. Same would be the case on an older American V8 with high performance parts installed.

high zddp in small engine oil?

+1 They didn't remove additives from oil, they simply phased some additives out in favor of others in order to not harm emissions equipment. Oils today are better than they have ever been.

high zddp in small engine oil?

Unless it's a brand new engine where the cam hasn't been broken-in yet, I would run it.

high zddp in small engine oil?

Oils today are better than 10 or even 5 years ago. Modern passenger car oils have to withstand high heat, fuel dilution, turbo charging, and other factors. ZDDP is one additive, it caused damage to cat convertors so it was removed in favor of other additives and technology. The manufacturers...

high zddp in small engine oil?

It isn't needed. High Zinc is necessary for flat tappet cam break-in on engines with high valve spring pressures. Small engines have weak valve springs, you can literally push the valves open by hand.

I just got the Echo Chainsaw deal at Home Depot. 50cc model 4910,

What do you mean by professional bar tensioner? Does it not have the tensioner on the cover? My CS-501p and CS-352 both have it on the cover, super easy to adjust. I just used my CS-352 for two weekends at my friend's Christmas tree farm. Love how easy it starts, was a 1 pull start each time...

high zddp in small engine oil?

It's marketing, and judging by how many internet experts on the lawn care forums still claim it is necessary the marketing is working quite well.

Which one to buy? E90 BMW vs 2015-16 Mercedes E350

I also like that you can buy a base model 2006 325i and it will still have all the same charm the other models sharing the chassis have. A friend has a 2006 325xi that is closing in on 260k miles. It has needed some maintenance over the years obviously, but still just as tight and crisp to...

Which one to buy? E90 BMW vs 2015-16 Mercedes E350

One of the things I love about my E90, is how well it has held up. Mine is going on 16 years old and has over 100k on it. It has been subject to lousy New England roads its entire life. No squeaks or rattles yet and the steering is solid and suspension tight. The BMW enthusiast community is...

Thinking of trying clean up/porting on cheap chainsaw

The Chinese saws are good to practice porting cylinders on, and once you get a bit better at it I'd find a broken Husqvarna 266 or 272 and port some aftermarket cylinders.

Does it really make financial sense to buy used over new?

Of course it is. I buy things because "I want it" all the time. Saying it makes better financial sense is different though.

Does it really make financial sense to buy used over new?

It's useful to buy cheaper used cars if you want cars for different purposes. 🙃 Honestly I don't think new cars make financial sense unless you don't take much of a financial hit trading it (truck that holds its value or something) or keep it for a long time. The exception is something used...
