Oregon EXL chains. Help with 70DL vs 72DL

I like those as well. I use the Oregon or Archer chisel chains and Tsumura bars.

I do this with mine as well as the plow on my tractor and ATV, works great.

Tire age - when to replace

When I worked in insurance I saw far too many accidents (including rollovers and fatalities) caused by tire blow outs. I replace mine at 6 years old including on my trailers or at the minimum tread depth, whichever comes first.

    Chainsaw Purchase

Yup. The problem is people focus on having a lot of power, but that doesn't come without more weight. Most cutting firewood could live with a 45-60cc saw just fine. My father cut firewood to heat our house for 20 years with a 52cc Makita/Dolmar saw that I now own, and it's a great saw for 90%...

    2025 1500 Ram SST Issues

New vehicles are more complex than ever, and manufacturers are trying to cut costs. Mistakes/problems are bound to happen with emerging technology. Many manufacturers and dealers really couldn't care less about the customer experience unfortunately, so you are at the mercy of your local dealer...

Ram 1500 3.6 lower tow capacity than mid size - what gives?

+1 I'm annoyed by many modern ATs, but the ZF8 behind the hemi in my 2019 Grand Cherokee has been great. I keep the "eco off" button on all the time and it is even smoother. I'm surprised by how many modern vehicles I've driven where it seemed easy to "confuse" the transmission, especially...

    Chainsaw Purchase

The 590 is a nice saw and would definitely benefit from a muffler mod. There are a few youtube videos showing the improvement with just a muffler mod and carb tune. There are also some o-ring upgrade kits out there to help improve the air filter. With those cheap upgrades it is a really great...

Found a flaw with Echo Red Armor 2 Cycle oil and its not what you think!

+1 Also suspicious, since I have started 2-cycle machines using 40:1 Echo red armor in below zero weather.

    Chainsaw Purchase

Echo CS-590 or a lighter option would be the CS-4910/4920. I have a Jonsered CS2171 which is very powerful for the big stuff, but it gets heavy. My go-to for "firewood" is my Echo CS-501P with an 18" bar which is the pro equivalent to the CS-4910.

Added coolant filter to Jeep 4.0L TJ

@mitsuman47 It has been great. So far the spin-on filters are looking better and better. I only drive this Jeep in the warm months 3-4000 miles per year, so I change the filters once a year at this point and they look good.

Why high rpm on chainsaws during delimbing?

They don't. It's more of a need than a want. Right saw for the job in my mind, but I also own 4 saws. Time is money for professionals, so the faster you work the more efficient you can be, this is way different for Joe Homeowner. Many homeowners buy a professional big saw, then complain how...

    M3 vs M3. $55K vs $120K. Who ya got?

I no longer have my E90, but will have another BMW eventually. It will be RWD, inline-six, and manual, but probably older than my E90 was.

    Oil Weight for Kaw FX801V

+1 They recommend 20w50 mainly for commercial use in hot climates. The newer Kawis tend to burn a bit of oil. With that said I would run a 15w40 without hesitation. I usually run that in my Kawasaki powered Exmark mower year round.

Who has more advanced chainsaws? STHIL or Husqvarna?

Stihl has more advanced saws, meaning more electronic controls. To some that is a benefit (every day users). This is not a benefit for the person who has a saw that sits more than it is used.

+1 That new BMW M3 is difficult to look at.

    5w30 Winter Oil? Toro, Briggs

If you do a Google search you will find VOAs of "small engine" oil. There are some that do have different formulations (Amsoil is one) made specifically for air cooled OPE, but if you buy something like Briggs, Kohler, or Kawasaki oil they aren't anything special especially for the prices they...

    5w30 Winter Oil? Toro, Briggs

I wouldn't bet on that. A lot of the engine oil claiming to be for small engines is just marketing, and it's regular ole' oil but with a manufacturers brand on the label.

Qty of 4 Poulan PP4218's - Cannot get carbs tuned.

+1 I rarely work on cheap 2-stroke equipment these days, since the customers usually don't want to pay to fix it, and they usually need EVERYTHING in order to run again. Carb kit, fuel lines, filters, etc. Commercial grade saws or even the decent "pro-sumer" saws are worth it.
