GM now saying to use 0w40 in 21-24 6.2L

I don’t see anything in the news about this being an actual recall.

Invisible Fence for a dog. GPS based

I have a remote collar that shocks/vibrates/beeps from Amazon for like $20. It’s rechargeable and works great. You just hit the button, no fence or GPS. I think it has 1,000 foot range or so.

https://www.elcocadillac.com/searchall.aspx?Make=Cadillac&ModelAndTrim=VISTIQ I also haven’t seen one in the wild. A few are in transit still.

    2026 Cadillac VISTIQ

Our dealer is listing them for $2,000 off sticker. 3 years Sirius for $299 somehow grinds my gears the most on these.

    Best road trip vehicle?

Another vote for a full size GM SUV or a crew cab truck with a tonneau cover. I love our 2024 Yukon XL. It swallows a lot luggage and will cruise til your bladder can’t take it anymore. My 2021 Raptor and 2007 LS460L were probably the most comfortable vehicles I’ve had from a seats and ride...

Rental car review - 2025 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid - middling fuel economy

I like to think of how slow a gallon jug of liquid has to drip for an hour to get 50, 60, 70 miles per gallon. When think of how little fuel you are actually using over that distance, it’s pretty impressive.

    50psi rental car tires

Bought my 2019 Raptor and it had 50 psi in all 4 tires. Stopped at the first gas station and let air out before my 100 mile drive home. My MIL bought a QX80 that had over 50 psi in each tire. She was thrilled with the ride when I checked and reduced the air pressure to 35 or whatever it called...

Potential 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance purchase

I measured my tread depth at 28,500 miles on the OEM 21” Michelins. 6/32” remaining up front 5/32” remaining in the rear They are wearing surprisingly evenly for a wide tire that I can’t rotate. I think these had 9/32” new so I’ll probably get to 40,000 or so before I replace. Not bad at all.

    Taycan Turbo GT Weissach

If I had unlimited funds, I’d get one in addition to a 911 Turbo S. That is impressively fast. I’ve never been in something that quick.

Wonder if it was for a smoke detector that never got installed? Any HVAC equipment up in the attic?

Potential 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance purchase

I’d keep looking for a clean one. I think the newer the better as well as they made updates along the way. I love my 2023 Model Y Performance as a daily driver. It’s got plenty of power and costs peanuts to charge at home. I’m almost at 30,000 miles on the OEM tires. I’ll get some tread...

    Bad accident - walked away

The driver said no brakes. There were 8 violations for faulty brake equipment. I think it was probably a bit of both. The e light is at the bottom of a hill too. She got pushed into a Sienna that was stopped in front of her and totaled that too.

    Bad accident - walked away

You just never know what’s going to happen. My wife and son were rear ended by a loaded dump truck with no brakes a year ago today while stopped at a light on a 50 mph road. The Suburban held up very well all things considered and was replaced by a Yukon XL. I’m glad they weren’t in a Camry.

Window AC: to replace or not to replace

Yeah, that’s been on my radar for a few years now, I just haven’t pulled the trigger. They are definitely cheap enough and I’ve read the instructions multiple times. I don’t use it much but it would sure be nice to have it fully climate controlled.

Window AC: to replace or not to replace

I really wish they made one with heat too. My basement garage is is below grade on 2.5 sides, well insulated and underneath a living space so it has minimal cooling and heating requirements. I think a 12 or 18k would be just right for me but would really like heat too. As cheap as the 12k AC is...
