Jaws of life are now Li battery based

Our local FD has been using battery powered for quite a few years now. Silent, lighter, stronger and no worries about fuel storage. The boys were quite happy with them.

No pictures yet.... beef round roast came out of the oven and resting. Just a simple cook at 200 to 300F incrementally. It's probe tender and smells good. Then overnight brined chicken thighs on the Traeger. 360F and should be done in half an hour..... Then some sort of one dish oven baked...

    Post your latest oil change

My daughters 2004 Ford Escape 3.0. Out was conventional Boss 5w20 and a Service Champ OF2222 filter. This looked to have been done at one of the local quick changes several years ago with the previous owner. I am unsure of the mileage but it wasn't overly dark and according to the sticker, it...

    Caliper slide pin grease

That kleen flo stuff seems to work quite well. I usually do a gravity bleed and slide pins every 2 to 3 years. The grease, while dark hasn't degraded into putty, it still has the same consistency as it went in.

    Co-op DMO 10w30 24k km; 2017 Cummins 6.7

I had looked at another truck owners UOA. He runs a newer Ram 5500 commercially hauling albeit towards the southern states and he is north of 200,000 miles. He normally runs T6 5w40. His iron was trending about 1ppm/1000miles. He also ran an index of T5 10w30 (if I recall), his iron went up...

What are you doing right now?

Took some time this morning with the steam truck, thawing out another watering bowl. 90 feet of water line had to be cleared. She froze bad as the ground is cleared of snow and frequently driven on. Ribs now on the Traeger and some time on the trails. My daughters sled, Btchy Mike had a...

Driving techniques to minimize cold start/short trip wear--what do you think?

Just drive and continue living life. Subjectively, I have a hard DD routine with my Trailblazer. I have a 14km one way route to work. Grid road, highway and a bit of small city. It seems I had to work on every cold day. -37 starts and driving. The transmission doesn't even warm up enough...

What are you doing right now?

@ripcord thats a great idea but I don't want to have to hack down bushings to make access to the river or have to trailer anything. I'm lazy. But in reality, that would be fun!! On a side note, my girl got her license! First try, no deductions! She was pretty stoked!

What are you doing right now?

Oh and im depressed. I'm starting some days off but it's melting outside. I want to go snowmobiling! Sure I'll fill that time making some beef jerky, ribs and steaks on the Traeger but it's just not the same.

Did your parents ever cheat you out of money or steal money from you?

Man, this is crazy. I am so blessed with my parents. My god, in their late 70s and early 80s and they still put money in for their grandkids education, send out Christmas and birthday money. I feel for those that never had it this good. My parents never took anything from anyone. They were...

    newer Cummins 6.7L ... 5w40 vs 15w40

I suspect not only an engineering issue but parts supplier as well. Look at the 6.7 water pump recall. One supplier was fine and the other were junk. Look at all the cam and lifter issues with the gas engines. Penny pinching and a race to the bottom.

Extremely cold start snowblower - how does the oil flow?

In my old AYP Poulan with the LCT engine, I used left over synthetic 5w30. Ran great for years until the gear box broke. I will say this, it started all day every day. I never bothered with the electric start, messing with an extension cord was not worth my time. It's starting procedure was...
