What makes you like where you live?

The people and the lack thereof. We live in a large province with a population of maybe 1.4 million, making us sparsely populated. While prices have crept up, it's still more affordable than other provinces. It was easy to dig roots in the smaller communities and build lasting friendships. I...

What are you working on today?

@D60 good on you!! White trash is a dying breed!! We decided to name our blue sunfire. Originally I was calling it Sunny Shtbox but my wife decided on Shtty Blue. We have Big Blue, Little Blue and now Shtty. We did name the mini truck though, Shelly the Shtwagon. Maybe tomorrow evening...

What are you working on today?

Finally got the new wires in. Much smoother!! Now that's she's actually firing on all cylinders, I can do a monitor of the oxygen sensor and see if that's good and then i figured I should check the pulleys and water pump for play. I really like this little beater for commuting!

    Power Steering Fluid Change Questions

Use a quality ATF that will work with your climate. Your vehicle won't care. Up here, synthetic ATF that flows nice in the cold is almost half the price of the dedicated power steering fluid.

What are you working on today?

Well, as quickly as I solved the misfire, rough idle on the Sunfire, after a couple heat cycles, it was back... and worse. Last night, coming home from work, I parked along the dark road and popped the hood. Wow, those wires really are worn out, looked like fireworks. Napa has some wires on...

What are you working on today?

@bdcardinal i too have had some life clarifying moments working on vehicles...... had some come to Jesus moments and quite a few childish outbursts where things were broken. That's why I see a therapist and don't go into the black anymore.........awkward silence..... But I also don't own any...

What are you working on today?

@53' Stude that is a great question...... all I can say is that it's going to be cheap. It has conventional 5w30 in it now with that Motomaster OE plus oil filter. It gives that 24,000km guarantee with synthetic oil...... honestly, likely do 10,000km indexes and if I continue using the car...

What are you doing right now?

Odds and ends today as I go back to work tomorrow. Helped with chores this morning, then recharged the ac on the old beater sunfire, cleaned out the hot tub, watered the garden and planning to grill some steaks and smokies for supper.

What are you working on today?

@Creekside we too use whatever is available for our air ambulance (STARS). They have come into some real shady sht but usually it's a nice open field, which we have abundance of. Pretty stoked, did that Red Tek at home ac recharge on the Sunfire. Blows nice and cold now. When i was testing...

What are you working on today?

Piddled around on the Sunfire again, trying to sort out the rough idle. Began thinking that the new plugs helped but that another day after, i was messing with the wires for some reason. Under load, she runs fine. I pulled each plug, all had good torque and nice burn. Ohmed out the wires...

New to me 5 speed Cobalt coupe

Awesome!!! I'm currently working on my 2002 Sunfire beater. She's rougher but perfect to get me to work and put miles on. That's the great thing about these things, if you hit a deer, just pull the plate and walk home.

What are you working on today?

Took my beater Sunfire out for a good burn yesterday. Other than the idle went to crap, runs good on the highway and im very impressed with the brakes! Linear, firm and no pulsating. When i first got it, the idle was a little off kilter, the odd stumble etc. New plugs seemed to help. I then...

    Any 10w-30 HDEO users?

I've run various 10w30 oils in my 2017 Ram 3500 since it's first change at 24,000km. Consequently, whatever was left over went into my quad or other ope other than my snowblower.

What are you eating right now?

Store made smokies on the midget charcoal kettle. Crushed a Corona sunbrew with lime slice heating the thing up. Can't wait.

    New tool thread

@D60 i always appreciate and learn something from your posts, for that, I thank you! Seeing as I am on a journey to learn, hence buy and driving beaters. I have begun my adventure into drum brakes. After a teardown, inspection, cleaning and reassembly of the Sunfire wheel cylinders, I needed...

What are you working on today?

Did the passenger side drum on the beater Sunfire. Wire wheeled the carryover parts, lubed what needed it and assembled it with new pads. While not leaking, I tore down the wheel cylinder to inspect it. Glad I did as it needed quite a cleaning. The bore and pistons had some funky buildup...

    Drum brake question

Done and done. Driver side is together and working. New shoes, hardware and wire wheeled the drum. Used a full can of brake clean on all parts that side. Works line new. I'll monitor the wheel cylinder but after a thorough clean and buffing down the buildup, it works great and hasn't leaked...

NP263 transfer case w/Autotrak 2 fluid - hole in case - temporary fluid until replacement?

I wouldn't hesitate to use any modern synthetic ATF. My Trailblazer has whatever transfer case that needs autotrak. I've been using my usual group 4 based 7.7cSt ATF in it for many years now. Works great.

What are you working on today?

@ripcord i wish I lived next to a nail factory, less chance. It's these old, redeveloped farm sites. Old buildings that are long gone, old farmers and ranchers that buried piles of old metal etc. I'm at 3 or 4 flats now on my 3500. I'm 10+ on my Trailblazer and I can't remember the rest...
