    Flush, drain, or do nothing?

I already own one back home and dropped $50 for the one they had in the store. That is a silly price, but it makes the process much easier and I didn't want to leave anything to chance with a 350 mile hike ahead of me.

    Flush, drain, or do nothing?

I am on vacation with my 2018 Honda Pilot filled with Honda Type-2 Blue coolant. Today while waiting for the wife to run into a shop I smelled coolant while idling. I popped the hood and some how, some way that is still beyond me, the radiator cap had come off. I popped it back on and headed to...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

Here we go: "Product information, available viscosities, container sizes, and technical data sheets are listed for each individual product on our site: Restore & Protect: https://www.valvolineglobal.com/en/restore-protect Extended Protection Full Synthetic High Mileage...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I emailed Valvoline about VRP vs. High Mileage and this is what I got back: "Restore & Protect does contain seal conditioners but not at the elevated level of the Extended Protection High Mileage Full Synthetic. If treating and preventing oil leaks is the greater concern, the Extended...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I actually just wrote an email to their product support tonight asking them to clarify how VRP compares to their high mileage oils with regard to seal conditioners and anti-wear additives. I will update if I hear back anything of value.

HPL EC treatment started. 2007 Camry 2AZ-FE 153k consumption.

It has improved a bit. I would guess before the soak she was averaging around 22-24 or so with mostly highway miles. I am clocking her around 26-28 now. For an 18 year old engine I am not complaining. The biggest improvement has really been how easily she starts, and which is night and day now...

    Need a 3,000 mile replacement

I have been running Purolator Tech 20195's on my Camry for a while now because I have been doing various work on her to fix her oil burning and because they were $2.45 on Amazon. They are great for sacrificing for flushes and surprisingly, seem well made despite being an M+H filter coming out of...

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

I don't think that the lesser efficiency is going to harm the engine. I'm not that anal about oil filters. But the efficiency that they are advertising is not what the data they provide(d) supports. That is the last spreadsheet that I can find for the ONE line. 99% at 30 microns. 30 > 20. 20 =...

Endurance and Titanium both disappearing-- now what, Fram?

Ah. Well that makes more sense. But that doesn't necessarily mean that they are discontinuing the line entirely. Fram might contract with Amazon or someone else to exclusively sell the Endurance. Or not make it exclusive to anyone. I do enjoy that there is no micron rating on the Purolator box :D

Endurance and Titanium both disappearing-- now what, Fram?

Any insight as to why the Endurance is disappearing?

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

They promoted incorrect/misleading efficiencies and then when called on it now refuse to provide any verifiable information at all? But don't take my word for it. Just email [email protected] and ask to see the spec sheets for Purolator oil filters.

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

Just for kicks I shot a request to Pentius' customer service to see if they would provide the spec sheets for their filters. I see a 12 pack of their Honda-compatible UFXL filters on Amazon for $57 (4.75 a pop) so I am hoping that they respond tomorrow and I can buy them and stop overthinking...

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

There is a big difference between withholding information (not good) and making false claims (really not good). Sure, they often go hand in hand, but the M+H folks have chosen to do the former after the latter.

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

Interesting. The website still has the asterisk with "*Based on ISO 4548-12 at 20 microns on PL30001" at the bottom for the ONE. The BOSS has the 46 micron asterisk. https://www.purolatornow.com/en/products/oil-filters/purolator-one.html

If I ran any kind of company that made car parts there would be a big red light that turned on whenever a BITOG thread was made with our name in it. Good on the forum.

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

If the old spec sheets are to be believed then I suppose the ONE line is worthwhile at or around 99% at 17 microns depending on the size... provided that they don't tear the way that they used to.

At this point I am seriously considering only buying Denso filters from Rock Auto for all of my cars. I feel like that is the only part manufacturer that has never screwed me with a bad product or done something stupid at the corporate level.

    Maybe reconsider using M+H filters

This came from another thread but I thought that it might work better as its own. I just reached out to Mann+Hummel to see if they had any updated ISO filtration efficiency test results for Purolator filters: "Hello, Can you please provide me with the most recent ISO filtration efficiency test...

    Fram Endurance oil filters.

Well well well. I decided to reach out to M+H to see if they had updated test results: "Hello, Can you please provide me with the most recent ISO filtration efficiency test results or specification sheets for your Purolator line of oil filters (Purolator, PurolatorONE, PurolatorBOSS, Purolator...
