Would you all like to see ISO 4548-12 Oil Filter Lab Testing Comparison, Efficiency & Capacity, Pressure vs Flow, Bubble Point, and Burst?

If you are not satisfied with the current types of multi-pass efficiency and capacity testing used to differentiate various filters, than this may interest you. There are filter testing standards that are not out yet, in development for ISO, SAE, and the MIL (Department of Defense) for filter...

Filtration does not become less important if you change you oil more frequently. It is still very important. Particle's cause wear, less particles cause less wear, yet certain size particles can cause more wear then others, no matter where the particles come from and their composition. Wear...

Correction: I meant to say there are far more particles/ml in the smaller size microns. In the larger size micron range, just a few particles have a greater effect on efficiency.

I chalk it up to statistical variation. There are far less particles/ml in the smaller size microns. In the larger size micron range, just a few particles makes a greater difference.

    20 micron range for delco/supertech??

Hey Z, off topic and I apologize, but are Royal Purple and AMSOIL filters made by the same manufacturer? Or have you seen any evidence of this?

Oil Filter Pressure Differential testing (PSID)

If anyone wants to learn about flows, cross sectional areas, friction/head-loss, pipe and fitting effects, velocities, and fluid dynamics in general. I would encourage one to look at these methods/equations: 1) Bernoulli's Principle and Equation 2) Darcy Weisbach and Hazen Williams 3)...

Unfortunately I can't until after the 16th of this month. I have been converting my PDF files to photos JPEG and tried about 10 different ways and the resolution is to blurry. The AC-DeI I did show was a clipped pic from excel, which I don't like because it does not show the full page of the report.

I appreciate your opinion on this subject. This study appears to be deeply flawed. Thank you very much.

The 4406 is for categorizing different cleanliness levels from the reading on the particle counter. Both the 4402, 11171, can both be categorized in counts/mL using each calibration standard. You would get different 4406 results for each (4402, 11171). I know the 4402 is discontinued, but I get...

No test is perfect. I like that you have read the SAE 881825 paper. Unless in the study they tracked a vehicle for it's entire life cycle and collected data, I certainly would argue that the statement (GM even admitted right in the conclusion statements of the paper that the results from the...

I have the capability to run this oil sample/batch particle count test. In fact I can sample online in real time taping into a vehicles oil lines as it is running. However the vehicle must be in my lab to do it, and it would be very expensive for the latter. I wish they stated the sample/batch...

This was only one test for each filter, random sample lots would need to be tested to see if these results are typical for each type. Statistically speaking this is insignificant. I cannot say which is best, only present this small set of data and let you decide what it means.

Oil Filter Pressure Differential testing (PSID)

Well for the lab tests there is a standard for where the pressure taps are located, and I don't recall the exact measurements/requirements, it something like within 5 or 10 times the tube ID from the filter inlet and outlet, but you want them close to the inlet and outlet. If a client sends me a...

Oil Filter Pressure Differential testing (PSID)

I think you can see the pressure taps in the video. To be honest it does not mater if people say I did something wrong. I have spent many years running filter tests, designing, and building test rigs, and work with the committees that write the standards. My peers know better.

I have antibodies for now, and my doc says I have to wait a while before I can be vaccinated. Bummer is I was going to get vaccinated in July. I just wanted to see the short and midterm side effects. Yes you are correct, the inject added dust at about a total of 2 to 2.2 grams every 5 min. The...
