Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Ok I appreciate the helpful tip, and it sounds like a straight forward process. But I'm just curious about something, going off of the bold portion, you're not suggesting to start and run the car after draining fluid out are you? Because I may be misunderstanding you, and I thought you...

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Cheetah-Kins Thanks for the advice! Sounds like you’ve had good luck with the drain and fill on the BMWs, especially with that kind of mileage – that’s reassuring to hear. I agree, the risk seems worth it if it helps extend the life of the transmission. I’m leaning toward doing the drain and...

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Yeah I wasn't trying to. It's just a more attractive price per gallon than the OEM fluid. I believe it's compatible too.

I'll double check but I thought these cars done come with a serviceable filter. So no Valvoline Max Life ATF? 😅 IJK but it is commonly recommended in transmission maintenance over OEM fluids for price, which honestly is pretty nice compared to the SP-IV this car calls for

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Thanks for the reply! Just to clarify, when you say "do the tranny service," are you recommending that I go with the dealer's power flush, have a transmission shop do the drain and fill, or try doing it myself? Also, I’m curious why you mentioned a Kia-specific scanner for checking codes. I...

Is 112k miles too high mileage for a Transmission service?

Hey BITOG community, I'm looking for some advice on whether I should perform a transmission drain and fill on my 2019 Kia Sportage EX AWD (2.4L Theta II GDI n/a) with 112k miles. To my knowledge, the transmission fluid has never been serviced before. The car isn't having any major issues, but...

    Post your latest oil change

Hey there, I've been using this oil for nearly the last 7k miles in my 2019 Kia Sportage with 112k miles. I have 3600 miles on the current fill (2 of four planned OCIs with the VRP) and I do believe it's doing something. You should feel good about your choice. Follow the OM/manufacturer's OCI...

    Thoughts on switching to HPL

I'm pretty sure OPs first post mentions a recommendation of how to use the HPL EC/PCMO from Dave. "That seems to be about what Dave at HPL recommends." - from the OP, but I'm not sure if that's hear say or something he reached out directly for.

In that case I think you have a solid plan, and would like to see how it goes. What filters are you running?

Which oil in an old 2010 peugeot 207 VTi sport that burns like a litre of oil every 300 miles and smokes a bit?😆

Have you considered doing a piston soak and flush, or both? Those seem to be popular remedies to oil consumption. Your results may vary, but you could look into if you haven't already. Should be safe to do on a car with less than 100k. I did two flushes 5000 miles apart with BG EPR, haven't had...

What did you think of the FRAM Titanium? What was on before and what prompted you to get the Purolator Boss? Just curious, I'm interested in trying one of those at my next oil change. Coming from a H/K OEM filter.

Must be nice. Well, I like your plan, I say do it! If it were me and my car, I might just skip the EC and sub a quart of your oil with a quart of the HPL PCMO, paired with a really good filter (better than OEM) and run that for a full OCI, which for me is 5000 miles. Monitor/check oil often.

    HPL Cleaner - Drain Interval?

Id be interested to see what BG EPR can do for your engine. I've used it twice 5000 miles apart on my 2019 Kia Sportage and well, I haven't pulled the valve cover off, bore scoped it or anything like that, so without a before/after to compare I can't say how much cleaning was done. But my oil...

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

Nearing the end of my 2nd oil change with the Valvoline Restore and Protect (5W30), I have over 3600 miles on this current fill, and over 6900 miles total with the VRP. Consumption at the first change was 1qt/500 miles. As you can hopefully see from the pictures below, consumption does appear...

I'm on the mobile version of BITOG, I don't see anyone's signature (if you list the car there) How many miles/how old? Are these engines known for burning oil?

This fixed my rough idle (will it fix my oil consumption?)

You're totally right. And when you're right you're right. Blade too.

This fixed my rough idle (will it fix my oil consumption?)

Last minute errands. And at the time, I was sure something was better than nothing. As for the cranking thing, the plugs were taken out, fluid was poured in, 2 oz of B12 each, on a warm engine (you could hear the solvent sizzle. I loosely installed the plugs and then let it soak for two hours...

Don’t worry, no need for an apology letter—just some mutual respect in conversation will do. Glad we can all learn from each other.
