2014 Subaru outback Amsoil CVT 149k Odo, 29k OCI

I definitely get that, I had the 100k cvt warranty too. I honestly don’t care though. 100k is just too long for CVT juice to be in there, especially when I’m looking to drive the wheels off of this car, that’s why I changed it when I got it. I wasn’t worried about it blowing up before 100k, but...

2014 Subaru outback Amsoil CVT 149k Odo, 29k OCI

You mean the HPL? I think 40k to start, maybe up to 60k. I don't know what new fluid has for silicon, however, I did see higher amounts in VOAs of other CVT fluid on here.

2014 Subaru outback Amsoil CVT 149k Odo, 29k OCI

Decent report on the current Amsoil CVT fluid and I've also attached the reports from when I got the car. The 59k change would have been Subaru fluid, then Amsoil until now. Any guesses on the silicon in the current sample? Pretty cool dataset to get out there, especially for anyone on the fence...

Nice! You certainly got lucky, especially with the notorious nissan CVT's!

    Neat thread on CVTs

That is sweet! Nicely done. Just put HPL in mine at 150k, fingers crossed I get anywhere near 400k!

    Which HPL for older truck?

In response to your third paragraph in the quoted post. I didn’t say price change, I was explaining how they formulate to a performance point, not a Walmart-mandated price point.

    Which HPL for older truck?

Oil geeks part of an oil geek website with the possibility of selling some product, how is that a waste?

    Which HPL for older truck?

It seems you don’t understand HPL. From my understanding, they don’t want to be a Mobil 1 or shell empire who formulate to a price point. HPL is purely about formulating the best performing product for their customers equipment. As I’ve said before, if one is seeking out HPL you aren’t just a...

    K24 and 10k OCIs

Thanks for the reply. Sure, the upfront cost is a bit more: pick your oil, run it, do a uoa or two to find out how far you can go, from then on it becomes MORE economical. One great example is wwilson, little upfront investment now he knows he can run **** near 30k OCI’s safely and spending...

    Which HPL for older truck?

As subieroo has said before, us DIYer's are probably less than 1% of HPL's business so they won't have a flashy storefront. Anyone who goes looking for HPL is a motor oil freak and knows what they are going after, and will ask the company questions if needed!

Again, my original question was side-stepped.

    K24 and 10k OCIs

I understand the emotional aspect of short OCI's, what I was asking is what is wrong with a 10k+ interval if the oil is still serviceable? Yes, running an oil past the mileage it can handle will certainly leave crud behind.

    Which HPL for older truck?

Then all you do is call them and ask for what you want, listed or not. They have custom blended for folks on here on multiple occasions. They are extremely helpful, to the point I just order through email now.

    K24 and 10k OCIs

What’s wrong with 10k intervals if you know the oil is up to the task?

High Performance Lubricants No VII series engine oils.

Yep. Certainly not 0 miles, more like 149,580. OEM fluid would have been just fine, I’m sure. However, I refuse to buy it because of the cost. Why pay that when I can get Amsoil or HPL for around the same price?

High Performance Lubricants No VII series engine oils.

Right on man. I just changed my CVT over to HPL last week, from Amsoil. Quite impressed with it. Amsoil had a slight shudder under about 35 degrees F when cold, no more with HPL.

Got disappointing news from engine builder oil related

Best engine builder or not, don’t support that nonsense. Regardless, run a 40 weight and have fun with that beast!

check out this page of this thread. I know it is about CVT, however, Molakule does help explain how this works. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/hpl-black-friday-2024.389822/page-4#post-7085069

Me. Then when it wears out, I rebuild it! With the new-car average price of $48k, no reason not too.
