    Oil filter wasn't changed

Another example of shoddy dealership work. Took in a 13' Pilot for a re-call on compliance bushings on the front lower control arms. This was a different dealership, and I gave then the benefit of the doubt that they would do the job correct. Just drop off and pick up. No inspection. I get it...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

Gee, then why did the service manager HIMSELF have my back ?!?!?! I'll tell you why, he doesn't even trust his own mechanics to do the right job. You think I'm all that !!!! I'm a nobody,,,I know that....If that was the case, why in the world would the mechanic's boss let me see all the...

    Toyota Oil Filters

I have 2 Toyota 2AZ-FE engines. One is an 03', the other is an 06'. The LAST year of the bullet proof 2AZ-FE engines was in 06', then Toyota ruined them over CAFE issues. Became oil burners. I think they installed low tension rings on the pistons. Nothing goes back in them but OEM Toyota...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

This is the way things should be done. I've trained my local Honda dealership to do this. Been dealing with them for years. 1st : Always have a fairly new loaner to let me use / 2nd : I bring them all the parts with a list of what to do and not to do ( getting old now, so a lot of the...

What are you working on today?

Tried clear coat in a spray can for the 1st time on a car bumper. Touched up the paint with a brush tip applicator ( looks terrible ), Prepped the bumper with Prep Solv, then started sraying. Came out terrible too. I don't even care. It's a P.O.S. I'm giving to my daughter when she starts...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

I posted this somewhere else. Last week I was siting at a looooonngg traffic light. To my left was a Valvoline Quik Lube joint. There they were. 3 guys could not figure out how to open a hood on an Audi. All had different size screwdrivers. They got the hood open to where the safety engages...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

They skipped the filter, plain and simple. It's the oldest story in the book. In 1968, my old man took his Ford to a local dealership for oil and filter change. My pop was no dummy, he put a long scratch in the paint on the filter, on the backside where nobody would see it. Came back, picked up...

    Strange piston deposits?

Give the pistons a Berryman bath, and see if if comes back. If not, no worries. If yes.., then worry about it, or not, if you choose too.

How to identify a Continental brand serpentine belt?

I put the online dealership's Bando's on my 2 Toyota 2AZ-FE's. They are a bit-h to replace !!! No room. Smack up against the frame. So, if I'm gonna do the job, I don't want to go back any time too soon. Real knuckle bustin job. I even have that serpentine belt tool kit. That doesn't even...

    Foam filled tires

Quick, go " borrow" them !!!!! They won't be tough on the turf. You just can't go Nascar cutting grass, and make sure the traction nails are not too long.

Outdoor electrical box with snapped screws.

Sorry, geez...got me scared. Looked like a lamp post. That's good. You can kill the juice working on it. Quick story: You know what will stop a 110volt zap ? A lousy pair of nitrile gloves that you would use working on a car !.. A guy at work taught me that trick, and it works. No more...

    Dryer Vent Extension

Friggin builders. No one takes pride in their work anymore. The gas dryer vent was blowin CO steam up from the trex deck floor, smack into the sliding glass door to get out onto the deck. I mean REALLY !!! The same with the gas hot water tank vent and the gas HVAC furnace. All 3 of them I had...

    Reliable water pump brands?

Buy what you're wallet lets you buy. The GMB's weren't all that cheap, not no $ 29 pump. All I can say is that they worked for me, and Chinese quality has come up. I mean, lets face it, they have the world by the short hairs now. Manufacturing of car parts is not coming back to USA, unless you...

Outdoor electrical box with snapped screws.

Heck of a place to put an outlet. In a lamp post base ? I worked for Con-Ed, ( local utility company in New York, for 36 years) We use to replace the wiring and the conduit coming up from the base of the lamp post. There may be 220 volt and 110 volt mixed in with each other. Don't touch nothing...
