Considering these used cars as commuter

Camry, Fusion and Kia in that order. Kia as a last resort. The Camry will probably be the most reliable long term. I'm a huge Fusion fan because as a fire fighter we recently extricated someone out of one that ended up walking away once we could get him out. That car was a total mess but it...

    Are chain saw blades directional?

Yes the teeth only cut one way. the cutting edge pulls toward you on the bottom of the bar and runs away at the top.

What are things you will never do again?

Are these animals picked out similar to how we deer hunt? For instance I might harvest a smaller rougher looking deer over a huge buck. That gives the buck opportunities to reproduce and hopefully continue to continue to spawn desirable animals. We call them "management deer" because its a vital...

    What is this? Railroad?

I vote some kind of blacksmith's tool but I have no idea past that.

What are you working on today?

Loaded and delivered 10 loads of fill material for a new house site today. Took a while to get settled back in to the excavator (haven’t run one in two years) but we got through it.

It was a surprise for sure. I just clicked the X. Maybe that was a mistake.

    John Deere 717A hydro change

That would probably be fine. I believe I used diesel when I did my 757 a few years ago.

    John Deere 717A hydro change

I'd say warm because if it's like the 757 or 777 it takes forever to drain. I also recommend removing the tank and washing it out as a normal drain doesn't get all of the fluid out.

    Did both of them myself.

What are you working on today?

Correct, on the Tri Pac the 2 cylinder Yanmar diesel drives an alternator and AC compressor. The "kit" you would buy will generally include a diesel fired Espar heater that runs off 12v battery power and a 12v-120v inverter. There is no generator on these for true 120v power. On mine, it is tied...

What are you working on today?

Got my APU mounted on the truck frame for the last time today. Got too dark on me tonight to get any pictures. I also finished the panels up for it. I need to get rivets tomorrow to put the latches and hinge back on. Tomorrow I’ll work on mounting the hvac module in the passenger toolbox under...

    New tool thread

My $1 garage sale find. Brand is OIT and made in Taiwan. Chopped the broken open end off and now have another 15/16” I can put a pipe on. Nearly all brake chamber studs on OTR trucks are 5/8” which requires this size. I have several cut down like this either because they bent/broke or I needed a...

What are you working on today?

Had one of those humbling repairs today. I purchased a Tri-pac Evolution APU to put on one of my OTR trucks a couple weeks ago. I’d been working to test fire it before I go to the trouble of installing it. I had hooked everything up to the controller and threw a 12v battery on it to find that...

What are you working on today?

I really like those connectors. I’m borderline terrible with solder but I can do it. These will work in nearly every application I work on

What are you working on today?

Hauled a pair of box culvert pieces in yesterday to be delivered and set this morning for a good friend of mine who is in the excavation business(also a fellow firefighter). This was a fun job and something I have never seen done before. These weigh 17,600lbs per section. The power company...

What are you working on today?

Slept in late this morning due to storms and the fire radio keeping me up until 5am or so. Planned to put the floor mats and sill plate back in the little Mack after removing them to clean under. I ended up finding some minor rust scale so I wire wheeled it and brushed on some old bed liner I...
