Another electric car almost out of power.

You are right. The EV owner should sell his car on the spot to the first person offering $100. Two hours will get one to either DCFC mentioned. Faster and cheaper than a flatbed.

Another electric car almost out of power.

They have outside outlets. How else could they plug in cola vending machines and ice freezers? Usually outlets by the gas pumps for service personnel. 1.2 kW at $0.50/kWh is $0.60/hour. Our current education system is so poor. The EV driver would be happy to pay $5 for 2 hours. The cashier...

Another electric car almost out of power.

Yes, after 10 years my 2013 Tesla Model S 85 only had 93% of it's original range!

Another electric car almost out of power.

Not even a 120V outlet? If the EV driver is carrying a charging cord a couple hours on 120V is better than the alternatives.

    Synthetic oil question

You are over-thinking it. The problem was nobody bothered to design for seal swelling properties so the problem existed changing between refined oils same as changing to a synthetic oil. Today's oils are designed for uniform seal swelling properties.

    Synthetic oil question

Once Upon A Time there was no standard or specification for oil swelling of vinyl seals. The prevailing wisdom was to use the same oil between rebuilds else risk oil leaks. The seal swells with oil then wears. When a different oil comes along that doesn't cause as much swelling the oil seal is...

Push come to shove purchase a dryer pigtail for that connector, then an electrical box and outlet appropriate for whatever mobile EVSE one has, and wire it up.

Time saved by not going to gas stations in non road trip scenarios: Rivian vs CX-9

Grandfather put his on a stand about 8' off the ground and "pumped" with gravity. Local Philips 66 distributor came by periodically to fill the 200 gallon tank. These days farmers commonly mount a 100 gallon transfer tank in a pickup truck to haul diesel to their tractor(s). This is not legal...

Time saved by not going to gas stations in non road trip scenarios: Rivian vs CX-9

A Tesla Wall Connector is $420 with NACS connector. Other companies make EVSEs with J1772 connectors for more or less than the Tesla Wall Connector costs. A Tesla Mobile Connector plugs into a NEMA 14-50 outlet (common 50A outlet at RV parks) for $300. No installation if you have a NEMA 14-50 in...

Time saved by not going to gas stations in non road trip scenarios: Rivian vs CX-9

If that is your concern then you do a splash-n-go before arriving home, only stopping for 5-10 minutes at a high speed DCFC site. My sister has a 2023 Model S. Drives 700 miles (each way) to see me. Stops 4 times to charge. 8 minutes 18 minutes 11 minutes 12 minutes Stays about 5 minutes...

Time saved by not going to gas stations in non road trip scenarios: Rivian vs CX-9

Yes, we know this number. The EPA ratings are from-grid not from-battery (as reported in vehicle). An L2 "charger" is built in to the vehicle, not the thing you see on the wall (which is nothing but an extension cord). Is easy to meter the power being fed to the vehicle. The thing on the wall...

Corrected it for you. Tesla doesn't sell Wall Chargers, they are not chargers but nothing more than fancy safe smart high power extension cords. Connectors.

From the time you turn the nozzle on until it clicks off is 5 minutes. Now account for the time to start the pump with your credit card, the time to divert from your path into the gas station, the time circling the gas station for an open pump, and the time to resume your route. 9 minutes is...

    Quality replacement refrigerator?

Yes, that is a "was" situation. Not true in recent years as LG is trying to recover from the mud on their faces. Many LG refrigerators have a 5 year warranty on the compressor, others (the inverter driven compressors?) have a 10 year warranty.

Why isn't High Mileage oil the "standard" oil?

it is all marketing. You are virtuous in buying "high mileage oil" for your precious older engine. If you don't buy high mileage oil you are an abuser.

Not at all. The cost to convert "free" sunshine into something useful is less than the cost of energy from other sources. I have previously stated my position that "cost" in dollars is the most accurate metric of resource consumption. Once again you are misguided in saying we should go out of...

If you claim something to be "environmental" or "renewable" then it is a valid vulnerability in your argument.

Baseball gloves and saddles. Sometimes shoes. Car leather too closely resembles vinyl. I much prefer the fake "vegan" leather Tesla uses. I don't care if it is "environmental" or "renewable" or etc.

So because raw cow hide is a "renewable resource" you assume all the processing to make this resource into a car seat is also a blessed "renewable resource"? Raw cow hide is virtually free as a byproduct of steak. Oversupply.

So you are guessing again. Not in the Lexus I'm familiar with. Seating surfaces only. If you want everything leather then you purchase an aftermarket seat cover. Have a pro install, not a job for an amateur. Depends on what you buy, equal or better than any OE seat.
