Sold 3 oz of Gold - A review of my First time experience selling precious Metals

Many people I know keep telling me I should buy physical gold instead of gold ETF. I am going to use this as the proof that I wouldn't. I'm not going to invest in something that when I want to sell it would cost 5% or more in spread. If I want to keep a few coins as emergency I can understand...

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

You don't "give it to the bank" you sell it to the bank and rent it back. You are mixing 2 concepts here: 1) occupancy cost / renting a home when the bank is having a partial ownership, and 2) borrowing money with interest and paying it off over time. You don't own your home until you pay it...

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

If the daughter is living in it and a partial owner then I would imagine a HELOC is a better choice than reverse mortgage. Typically reverse mortgage is there for people who don't want to pass the house to the next generation.

world’s oldest practicing doctor gives longevity tips

I can only say from personal observation of family members who lived super long (many 90s and one 106) from one of the highest if not the highest life expectancy places on earth. 1) Good genes: you have no control over family history of certain diseases. Some people I know are diabetics in the...

    Dealership negotiations...

My experience is, it depends. Some dealerships already reached their goals and have low inventories, and they can wait for a more willing higher paying customer for the vehicle you are looking to low ball on. Some would probably try to run ads on vehicles sat on their lots and therefore would...

    long distance logistics profitable?

I used to work at a company that spin off from Mitsubishi, and they typically paid 1/3 of what retail UPS / FedEx in shipping due to volume discount. I would imagine Amazon probably pay even less as you said. As to why not just ship to San Juan or US Virgin Island instead of on a plane. I guess...

The used car market is tough. I need to change my approach.

Not just craigslist. Most of the free to list ad places are full of scams and spams that many people start avoiding them. I typically just put in FB market place now instead of craigslist because of that. Free ads attracts a lot of unrealistic buyers and sellers. Young people seems to go to...

    Debit Card hacked

This is why I only use it for ATM and never for purchase anywhere. There is no incentive for the banks to take care of debit card fraud. Sometimes they trust 2 factor authentication so much they never assumed people can steal your cell number just to get 2FA to steal your identity. (I remember...

    The future of vehicles....

This is why some of us would not buy a car run by a bean counter management but rather a family run business who wants to keep legacy going.

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

In theory it could work, but I don't know if it is a good deal compare to refinancing or HELOC. To be honest if I have to start drawing down equity it might be easier to find a way to sell the house to someone who wants to landlord and rent it back from him, or sell it and relocate or rent...

Is Hybrid Oil Worth it For Super Low Mileage Cars?

Highly doubt you will save enough fuel to payback for the extra cost of the oil.

T-Mobile Wireless 5G internet up and running in 17 minutes

I have been hearing a lot of hypes on 5G back then and finally it seems like the major use case is here: to give cable internet a run for its money and little by little breaking the monopoly.

    Trax overheated today..

Last time something like this happened to my car it warped the head and I needed to get the head gasket replaced. Do a pressure test and see if there is any leak.

I was in the wrong and I don't care.

I see why you are upset, however this isn't that much different than reserved parking for Carpooler, veterans, preferential treatment for certain club members, etc etc. In the end it is a business decision. They can do business with membership like Costco, or they can do business with certain...

New Trader Joe’s opens across the street from existing location. Both staying open.

From my understanding (TJ is my favorite store, beats Costco and other Asian supermarkets), TJ has a very small foot print and only sell the more popular and good deal products and skip the "we should carry it even if nobody buys them" products. They never expect to stock everything you want to...

New Trader Joe’s opens across the street from existing location. Both staying open.

I can see that they probably either are too full, have a good deal on new lease, or the older one's lease is about to expire, and they won't negotiate, or they are selling some slightly different stuff in each store. Starbucks used to do that a lot. There was one time either a Home Depot or...
