    3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

Knowing Critic in person, the "adult male" would be about 5'9" medium build (wear men medium size T shirt, 33inch waistline, 150lb). The grandparents basically need to be in 2nd row and force the car seat and wife (I think around 5'6" or so?) to 3rd row. My concern is older people may have a...

Latest budget makes interest on American made cars fully deductible.

If on average auto braking save 2 fender bender over 20 years, it probably save the extra cost from insurance claim already. Which indirectly save the car owners that much on average over 20 years. Paint job and bondo hours aren't cheap.

Just OP, his wife, and his 4 year old daughter. The extra row is for grandparents if they come along.

    3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

Typically when we Bay Arean do "road trips" we mean going down to San Diego or Vegas at most, and would be less than 1000 miles (like 500-800 usually). 5000 miles is probably beyond West to East coast and most of us would rather fly. Our days off plus gas in a large SUV (say 18 mpg) would cost...

    3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

This is why I believe these vehicles are better rental on demand than own or lease. Especially since Critic lives in the Bay Area and anything with large 3rd row seats like Suburban would be too big to park in many parking lot (forget about street parking, they usually won't fit). Rich people...

    3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

A lot of the criteria are subjective on things like quality interior and average size male adult. I'm not sure if she is looking for just a road trip / sometimes only vehicle, or a daily driven commuter but they are typically conflicting quality of each other in my opinion. Personally I have not...

Another involuntary credit card being closed- Lowes/ Synchrony

Thing about credit score and credit card is, it is a score for lenders to know how likely you are going to default on your loan. If you compare someone with only 560 vs 810 you are going to see a huge difference, but not someone at 780 vs 810 (which is about how much closing an unused credit...

CEOs: AI Will Wipe Out Some Jobs

Intel's fall is not due to AI, they screw up royally since the smart phone boom, the crypto mining boom, the fabless chip companies boom, etc.

CEOs: AI Will Wipe Out Some Jobs

That's no different from any sort of technology break through in human history. We will find something that is easier to be done by human eventually. If you look back in history there were way more people growing food than today, then people who manufacture, etc. We will find something new to...

Does Walmart really need five versions of OTC omeprazole?

I mean why not, we have probably 10 different types of ham and maybe 10 different types of milk already, and probably 5 different types of eggs too.

Rare waterfront home under $700k USD in California

So do they have a rent cap or it is up to the landlord's mercy?

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

So you are a sales and lease back buyer with a variable lease. You are assuming a lot of risk too by doing that like what if she outlive you and your children have to cover all those expense and the sunk cost you already spent for her. I'm not saying it is a bad thing to do but you are taking...

Leaving California - filing final State tax return advice, tips, etc.?

You probably can call and ask them (and they usually have a form to declare and acceptable support document list like lease signed / termination, new job starting date / pay stub, utility bill, children enrollment date in school, etc).

Leaving California - filing final State tax return advice, tips, etc.?

My understanding is the exact date is needed so they know how much capital gain they should tax you on. You can't just move to another state and immediately sell your asset and claim state income tax there, instead of California. They would go after you if you do that, so the exact date is needed.

What you did is just reverse mortgage. You are the bank. Does that make a difference to her or to you?

Anyone Here With A Reverse Mortgage

It is just a loan, don't complicate it with emotions. If someone wants to cash out while still living in the house they can do two things: they can sell (the whole thing or a portion of it), or they can borrow against it. I personally would just sell the house and rent, while investing the...
