    Adventure Bike owners feedback

After owning a number of Adventure bikes I figured out that most of them are far too heavy to keep up or pick up. You either ride with a group or go slow or both. By contrast, my Yamaha WR250R had much better trail performance and could keep up with highway traffic. But the seat ain’t so...

What happened to BMW and its designs?

Car brands that focus on luxury aren’t going to be light or inexpensive. They focus on luxury so they can charge more. The German brands sell most of their cars with leases so purchase price is less important. And while clean simple lines are making a comeback, things sure got busy in the last...

    Harley-Davidson Moving More Production Overseas!

P After HD bought Buell, I walked into Manchester, NH HD to look at their Adventure model, the Ulysses. I was in riding gear. Two salesmen just sat there. One of the parts guys saw me looking at the bike and came out and started chatting. He knew all about the bike, and expressed hope they’d...

    Harley-Davidson Moving More Production Overseas!

Pan America is modern-ish but the Sportster seems to live in a price-conscious part of the market. So not surprising. When I bought a Roadster some years ago and set out to make it better, I was surprised to find most of the parts on the front of the bike were metric. HD sourced most of their...

Best way to dump a customer?

We sold engineering software and provided telephone technical support. Telephone technical support is not telephone training. Everything was logged and we generated monthly reports. We would tell customers who consumed far above normal resources that “we were no longer a fit” and gave them the...

What is the rarest or strangest, unusual engine you have owned?

With freewheel! We had a 1969, which used the Ford 4 stroke 1.5L V4. Guess the most oddball engine is the boxer in my 1975 R90/6. Or maybe the 5 cylinder 2.7L turbodiesel in a Sprinter van. Neither particularly rare.

    Citizen solar watch

After looking at various models and talking to the guy at REI, bought the Garmin Fenix 8 Amoled Sapphire. Had a bunch of credits with the coop so it was just over half price. The guy’s original suggestion was one of the running models, but skiing, hiking and sailing made the Fenix a better...

Need your professional opinion on tires

Subaru used to equip Outbacks with Bridgestone Potenza Re92’s. They were rated 23rd out of 25 A/S tires on snow and ice. A friend of mine got tboned after picking up his new Outback in Maine in a snowstorm, then sliding through the stop sign right next to the dealership.

    Philadelphia Eagles

Thought the RAM ad was ridiculous. They should cater to their base: “Zero money down, zero interest.”
