    Are winter tires "worth it"?

And today in NY we had to open the AC vents at moms house and power all her stuff up. It was 85 degrees here today (and 82 in her house) with family gathered for early Easter get together. 3 season Defender LTX M/S went on Pilot this past week and the Pirelli Scorpion AS+2 on daughters CRV...

    The Honda Oil Filter Thread

On the Premium Guards there is also the Parts Plus PH2876EX, same as the PG4612EX which are both also slightly shorter than the factory 15400-PLM-A02 and the Carquest Premium 84356.

    The Honda Oil Filter Thread

You already mentioned after this that the 15400-PLM-A01 is NOT easy to find anymore. Also the 15400-PCX-006: is actually 15400-PCX-306, not 006: The current worldwide S2000 filter Made in Thailand by Mahle. Excellent quality, synthetic media. With that the PCX-306 seems to be slightly...

    Post your latest oil change

2019 Honda Pilot EX-L. Lots of road trip quick mileage this time so not sending samples. 72,551 miles on the motor. 5,277 miles on the oil. Out - 5.5 qts VRP 5W-30 and Honda 15400-PCX-306 In - 5.5 qts VRP 5W-30 and Premium Guard PG4612EX Tough choice on filter since I have multiples to...

    Increase in pad slaps

Just pad slapped the rear on wife's Pilot today. Rotors were still fine, pads at about 30% but I'm planning on towing trailer 1k miles and then road trips. I used Duralast Elite this time. The Raybestos Element 3's were at the 30% at about 20k miles. The Raybestos have been quite a...

I am replacing slide pin boots on every brake pad change

I used to have issues with pins binding and boots swelling that attributed to the CRC grease I was using. Many posts on forums showing that. I now use just plain silicone paste, 3M currently, and then whichever was available on Amazon from @Trav recommendation. I usually even give inside of the...

Pirelli Scorpion AS PLUS 3 225/60r18 Review

@Rand - any newer updates on the DWS-06+? They are on my shorter list of future replacements as well as the AS3 and couple others. I try to follow the threads with the Pirelli AS3. I'm currently running the AS2+ on my Accord (215-55-17) but down to 5/32". I bought them for the lack of noise...

Clunk when coming to a stop in neutral

My old Sequoia would do that. It was the slip joint at front of rear driveshaft. It would actually get some rust at times and not move as easy. Almost felt like some idiot tapped you from behind. Keeping it greased via zerk fitting kept it under control. First time I greased it, even making sure...

    Nitwits and their backup cameras

I back in 98% of the time. What's the difference (to OP) or for my safety and accident avoidance? I have to back up either way at some point into or out of that spot. I have much better visibility pulling out forward SLOWLY to watch the oblivious people on their phones. If I pull in at busy...

    Now King of Short Tripping

From what I took out from my daughter-in-laws '21 Tucson set at the 6k/12 month interval, usually hits time before miles.....NO F'N WAY. At least in something I'm maintaining. Oil level rose on the dipstick and the smell was vile when changing it. It's now on 3k/6 months schedule. UOA is good...

Post your latest oil purchase or even filter.

The CQP is a little taller and has a different shape gasket. Looks like same bypass valves in them. All of them including the Honda A02 have holes in center tube, not louvers. I also picked up 2qts of clearance M1 Truck and SUV 5W-30 for $2.35 each since I was passing AAP on the way to food...

I just got 6 of the "various manufacturers PG4612EX" from Rock Auto. 2 came from one warehouse and 4 from another. Here they are, physically identical as far as can tell. I'll need to compare to the CarQuest premium tomorrow.

    Parts plus PH2876 any good?

@WeyounDS9 - If next time you find the Parts Plus PH 2876EX that would be a good option also or maybe they can order for you. I just got 6 of the "various manufacturers PG4612EX" from Rock Auto. 2 came from one warehouse and 4 from another. Here they are, physically identical as far as can...

Do shops charge women more for car repairs?

Sadly, the Honda dealer has coupons for that at almost $160 for just the cabin filter. Engine air filter is more. Jeep dealer was charging even more than that for Renegade but since you need to remove 10 screws, bolts with different sizes it is a PITA. Still not paying that much. I have tools...

    IRA to 457(b)

I was always taught not to mix them while still contributing. If you remove them when retired in one place maybe. Most employer plans that I know don't allow outside funds to be added and co-mingled.

Post a photo of your oil on dipstick (with miles)

2010 Forte 2.0L, Kia/Hyundai filter. 1qt HPL PCEO 5W-30, 3.25qts PP Euro L 5W-30 and .25qt to top it off 1100 miles ago. 190k on the vehicle, 3k on the oil. Sitting on a slight angle so not showing quite full here but it is when flat.

Do dealers/shops actually still cut rotors?

Do you do them on the vehicle or off on a lathe? What does your shop charge for pads/resurface? I passed by AZ on way home and got new Duralast Elite to swap fronts. Old ones go back tomorrow. Worn but not crazy and at least I know my son will have new pads all around. Took it out, did the...

Do dealers/shops actually still cut rotors?

Do dealers still actually remove rotors and resurface them? I know older days they used to do that. I know I used to take my rotors (and drums) to local machine shop and they would cut them to clean them up, wasn’t real expensive. I thought for the most part now they just get replaced since...
